No..of course not. See post #27

I'm just upset by the drivers reaction. (honking and finger)

ramonesfreak 04-08-2021 01:51 PM

well its unfortunate but true that whether on a motorcycle or bike, your a 2nd class citizen to those in cars/trucks, who are usually on their cell phone or eating cereal

i was once commuting on my motorcycle to work on the long island expressway one morning, in the right lane and because the left lane was blocked with traffic, a cabby went around me on the right...where there was no lane, just gravel and grass. I couldnt believe the nerve of this a hole spraying up rocks in my face at 40 mph. ive given up on motorcycles for obvious reasons

careful out there

If I ever get hit again..I hope it's on my right leg.
The doc said if the left leg gets hit...the rod will bend. No way to straighten it without taking it out.
And that means amputation.

Finally solved the rattle problem.
Thinking it was the battery bracket making the noise...because when riding, if I pushed down on the whole works...the rattle stopped.
Today, I looked closer at it and noticed the tabs on the top of the battery were not making a solid fit. Pic two shows the tabs and the temp tape around them.
Pic three shows it fixed with a zip tie giving it some extra pressure. I'll re-tape them better for a permanent fix. I charge the battery while it's on the bike, so no need to remove it.

Completely quiet now.:)

Don't you just love it when the manufacturer lets you make decisions and help out with the R and D?

stevej37 04-11-2021 04:19 PM

^^^ Yeah, they did a great job of making an 'easy to remove battery.' They just didn't allow for how much shaking and bouncing that it needed to take. Our trails and roads here are not smooth at all.
It's a whole different bike when it's not rattling on every bump. Today, I put another 23 miles on it and it was a very fun ride.

Still awaiting delivery.....

stevej37 04-12-2021 06:12 AM

^^^ I think they sent me a tracking number five days before it arrived. They also sent two emails saying that someone had to be there on delivery to sign for it.
The funny thing is that the UPS guy lowered the bike box down and went to leave. I asked him if I needed to sign? He said "No...you're ok"

Swapped the saddle for a new one. I have the same one on my 24 speed. It even matches the bike color!
Mounted the Garmin Varia to the front and back.
The bike is ready for some warmer weather now. (supposed to start getting warmer this pm...it snowed this am) :)

A couple people that rode mine might be interested.
If so, I'll pm you for details.

Went to take it out today and noticed that I had not plugged it in since last trip.
The battery showed half full yet, but I decided to take it right out and leave it home on the charger.

I put 17 miles on it with no assist and it wasn't hardly any difference between that and 17 miles on my 24 speed road bike. The rear hub/motor is the biggest weight, but it still pedals easy.

stevej37 05-23-2021 09:37 AM

There is a very steep road near my home that goes to some homes on the river nearby. I have taken my road bike down and tried to ride back up. It's a killer because of the length and rise angle. (granny gear..standing up)

This morning, I did it with the Propella. Second gear with full assist...sitting down!!
Still an effort, but my heart was thanking me. :)

First problem with the Propella...I noticed a few days ago that the button on the controller (on/off) was balking at starting. A few days later, it took me 5 minutes to get it to start. Then, on the next day, it wouldn't start at all.

I emailed Propella asking what I should do. They replied that a replacement would be sent out immediately. (WA to MI)

Today, (3 days later) I received a box with the button switch, controller, display and cables.
Easy swap out...works perfect again.

Excellent customer service!

Installed a Zukka fork stem extender on the Propella yesterday. It raises the bars up almost two inches. ($12 from Amazon)
Allows a much more upright riding position. My hands get sore from supporting my weight.

Rode 25 miles today..much more comfortable.

Macroni 07-15-2021 03:00 PM

I finally received bike last week….Broken controller.

Will report when I install new controller and get to ride.

stevej37 07-15-2021 04:53 PM

^^^ Your's must have been from the same batch as mine!
The new one works much better than the old one ever did. Easy replacement.
