As you can see, MrsWD knows how to enjoy a martini now and then. She is much more adventurous than I. I want Tangueray in a VERY cold glass, a splash of water, and two pimento stuffed olives. Period.
She would put cat eyeballs in the glass if she was in the mood. Yesterday she came home with some pickled brussels sprouts and I knew right away what was afoot. I tried one - I really did. No thanks.

Pickled Artichoke hearts

Those Brussel sprouts are evil little cabbages without being pickled....

Where do you get cat eyeballs? (asking for .....)

Joe Bob 03-01-2021 07:04 PM

Lol

However, a cat eyeball martini is something you’d see on 3 Sheets with Zane Lamprey.

So you're not in Ohio now?

Swirl chilled vermouth in a chilled martini glass, dump. Fill with chilled vodka and a lemon twist.

or

Cut a wedge of orange and place in the bottom of a glass. Fill with cracked ice. Pour frozen vodka in the glass and muddle the orange. The "ex-Mrs Beard" used to call this a "Weak Screwdriver".

She used to drink 2 to 4 of these a night. As we split up, I was wondering why the vodka kept evaporating. Each drink was 3 oz of frozen vodka. Yes. A 110 lb woman would drink up to 12 oz of vodka a night.

Nothing out there makes a brussels sprout taste good in my opinion...even alcohol, or pickling !

Was she a red head? or Cajun?

WPOZZZ 03-02-2021 02:31 AM

mgatepi 03-02-2021 05:12 AM

Bacon. Buy the wee ones and cut in half. Sauté with bacon and they taste pretty good. You can also roast them in olive oil and balsamic vinegar until they are nearly burnt and agin, they taste yummy. I need to try the picking approach.

Cut them in half and steam them in heavy cream, with a little salt. The trick is to get the cream reduced to a thick consistency just when the sprouts are done to your liking.

I’ve never tried sprouts in a martini, mainly because I don’t drink martinis. Not a fan of straight gin or vodka, at all.

Why do people try and find ways to ruin a perfectly good martini?

Family was French-Canadian.

That is an excellent way to cook them. The biggest issue is to get fresh ones. Really fresh. Old spouts, like old broccoli, really smell bad when they are cooked.

Alcohol will never touch these lips....it is poured straight down the throat.

A Martini is a waste of perfectly good Vodka or Gin...straight shots is the only way to fly....
