Vehicle warranty spam calls
Are you guys getting those too? Both of my cell phones, my wife’s phone and our home phone get calls at least 2x daily. I don’t know how to stop these robo calls.

I just quit answering calls that don't have a recognizable number. Anybody legit will leave a voicemail.
I have AT&T's anti-spam blocking option and it doesn't stop them all. |

Not much you can do about them.
I've tried to connect with someone to stop the calls. As soon as they hear that...they hang up.

That and Google business. Help me understand how this warranty scam or business model works? What exactly are they trying to achieve?

If I have the time I will act interested and as a lot of stupid question. Like does it cover my TV set or prescription medications. Just keep them on the line and waste their time. There is no way to stop them until the phone companies fix the caller ID system to prevent spoofing of phone numbers and caller ID.

I get these frequently. They call from a different # every time so it's pointless to try to block them.

Cooking dinner and had plenty of extra minutes.
I was an old man with a bit of a hearing problem. "Cars? Cars? Yes they are great. I love cars". And a bit distracted by flies around the pants. She finally got my vehicle out of me. Man that brand new 1982 Ford Escort with all those shiny options was a beauty. As soon as it arrived from the dealership I had it bored out from 2.3L to 2.4L and boy did it ever take those hills after that. I was haulin' the horse trailer even in Colorado mountains. Did I tell you about.. "Sir I'm sorry you are not interested in a vehicle warranty, have a good day" I got about 10 minutes out of her. Haven't gotten any of those calls since. They must have dynamic cold call .db and share them.

I once got a call from a real professional. I was targeted for a psych or mark profile, or it was AI.
Nobody could maintain that continuous level of interest with a stranger. She was very sexy, persistent, and her voice glowed. Creaming her panties every minute it seemed. Reception was excellent. "I'm so sorry. I was trying to reach my friend Sylvia, but since we are here talking with each other I'd love to talk with you some more. What's your name? What do you do?" On and on with the questions..upping the ante in just a few minutes.. From ditzy secretary to my next best fk-buddy. (Of course I gave her wrong information) I was curious and wanted to hear the line. That one actually made me a little nervous. She was slick.

As a teenager, my best friend and I would attempt to have deep philosophical or scientific discussions within earshot of others. We had no idea what we talking about. They couldn't help but hear. It was a test to see how much they could tolerate. Sometimes they would join in. It didn't take long for things to devolve into chaos, everyone laughing their heads off. So I could take this approach. Ma'am, I have 5 cars. Are you referring to my '70 914-6? But that car was 40 yrs old before your company was created. I've had it since 1989 and I never bought a warranty for it. Maybe it is a Y2K issue and I am 100 years older than I think I am. That could be the problem, etc, etc, etc

The very best is when you can get them so mad they start cussing. That is when you can get kinky and ask about their underwear, g-sting or boxers or commando, what color and if they like turtles. I like turtles. How about puppies?

My 930 could use an engine rebuild after 120K miles, and my 964 a new clutch. Do you think they'll warranty those items?
I get those calls, too. Maybe only once a week or so, though. But maybe I should f with them a bit next time...

They're trying to get you to buy a "warranty" that is worthless. Like phony insurance policies that never pay a claim.

About 2/3 of the spam calls I'm getting are regarding vehicle warranty.

If my phone rings and the caller is not ID'd, I don't answer — period. If the caller leaves a VM I get back within a minute. So really, IDK what a spam call is like. I heard they start you off with a recording and if you're on the line it sends a message to the telemarketer to 'join' the call.
I have a couple of customers that managed to have their ID made to say, "No caller ID." If I predict that one of them is calling me, I will answer. More than one or 2 seconds of silence and I know I've been had. So I don't even answer for them anymore. |

Lots of phones have a feature to silence unknown callers. Use it if you can.

If I receive a call that’s not in my contact list I simply don’t answer. If it’s important they can leave me a message.

Unfortunately, in my line of work, I don't get the luxury/option of not answering the phone when it rings. Not because of some macho, dramatic life-and-death reason. But because it gets held against me--and legally documented--when I'm not immediately available to handle certain phone calls. One of the reasons why I hate my job. It's not a real emergency that I answer my phone, but rather a manufactered one.
