On the other hand, here he is saying why Rolex is the perfect watch..

fed is of course exactly right on both lists. He is very knowledgeable guy, and delray is a trustworthy business.

I think mostly he gets that top whatever lists and the world rolex in the title guarantees lots of views.

Reasons in short per video:

Not a luxury watch for the price. Awful value for the money.
Mass produced at over 1 million per year (not true luxury)
Customer service is poor. No special perks.
Attracts unfavorable attention potentially criminal
Part of a uniform for middle managers that get a bonus.

It'd be cool to earn one as a trophy for winning the Rolex 24.

Other than that, no interest in one.

Yep those Rolexs are a piss poor investment...
Paid $1600 for mine in 1988, been offered $8,000 for it. And I have worn the watch everyday for the past 33 years...
Yep just terrible......Don't buy one

I bought mine in 1981 for $1000. I was told a new replacement was $7500. It has been serviced once about 20 years ago for about $600. Except for the last couple of years I wore it every day. Not sure many watch manufacturers could duplicate that.

I’ve owned a bunch of them and made money on every single one. As someone pointed out one time, you can turn one into cash virtually anywhere in the world, inside of an hour, in an emergency.

I like their service organization better than any other brand I’ve ever owned, which is most of the big ones.

I’m not a fan of the current state of the watch collecting hobby, which is why I got rid of every single watch I ever owned. That said, if I ever decided to buy another watch, a Rolex is a possibility.

I could brag about mutual funds that have returned much better. But then I don't wear them on my wrist.

For me, the best reason not to buy one is the mugger bait factor...I don't need that.

The best reason to buy one is simply because you want it.

'85 for me in the Frankfurt airport. $650-ish. Dollar was strong. Stainless Datejust with fluted bezel.

$4-5k used roughly, only based on discussions.

Rolex instead of a Seiko is much the same as a Porsche instead of a Honda.

Police linked Miljkovic to the crime by tracing the gold Rolex stolen from Kalina during the robbery. The Rolex was sold to a Cleveland jeweler and three more times before it landed in an auction house that police checked.

Willoughby, Ohio, 2008. Robert Kalina was my dentist for many years. I wore the watch that was stolen to feel the weight difference from mine when in his chair.

Spitting distance from Stoddard Porsche, FWIW. Not a crappy part of town.

Not quite,,,There are videos out there saying a Grand Seiko outperforms Rolex. Not too many Hondas outperform Porsches, relatively speaking.

Actually, I've been toying with the idea of the new grand seiko spring drive...but they're larger than I like a watch to be. "This old thing? Naw, it's just a Seiko."

Same. The auditee bumped us up to first class for the trip home which was a no-no but I wasn't the boss.

I was in high cotton on that flight home.

I won't get mugged for my Seiko Chrono and my new one is solar....my daughter loves it. The ex bought it for me and now my bestie daughter has it.

If I coud have squeezed in enough Semtex....different story. I would have sent it back to the ex.....

Not sure if comparing a Grand Seiko to a Honda is all that accurate...

My wife bought me a Rolex for my 40th. I took it back and got an Omega (Seamaster Co-Axial Aquaterra). The whole Rolex thing seems so over blown, and there is nothing exclusive about them.
