Yeah, I am pissed

Yes, Stainless works announced they were no longer selling headersand parts for off road use. Bummer.

cstreit 03-09-2021 09:09 PM

Suggest we send them after NASCAR and see how far it gets.

rusnak 03-10-2021 12:16 AM

Well that is a really huge area of activity, between "emissions defeat" and "altering the intake and exhaust flow". The two are not the same.

Sooner or later 03-10-2021 03:11 AM

This is probably the Florida case mentioned. It started in 2016.

Per Steve Lehto they (EPA) has gone after 42 companies.
Probably the Punch It name didn't help. :-)

weren't all those diesel companies deleting emissions equipment on street cars and documenting there crimes on youtube?

It is my understanding emissions delete is very common in the diesel world since the modern systems are so complicated and often require expensive repairs.

They will go after companies that produce simple items such as headers, test pipes for legit race cars even if it really for club racing.

Time to buy a tig welder

fastfredracing 03-10-2021 08:51 AM

We all knew this time was coming. Its kind of amazing we got away with as much as we did up to this point .
It seemed as if they were really trying to clamp down on it all with the advent of OBD 2. '
I was gearing up to get my emissions testing license and equipment 15 years ago . My county does not have it . The guy from the state winked at me and told me that he would not invest much money or time into it .
This will probably will not change much , 'Im sure the Chinese stuff will pour in like a river, they will just punish US companies for manufacturing and or selling .

And this,

herr_oberst 03-10-2021 11:24 AM

Someone will figure out ways to market performance enhancing parts as something wildly different than what they really are. Maybe flash a performance chip and sell it as a fish tank bubbler enhancer.

For reference check out "solvent trap fuel filters".

This is a big hit to the diesel aftermarket. Getting rid of the additive and all its components is a game changer to diesels. Even off road such as tractors for farm use. But really, how much does this really effect our overall air quality???.

Particulates are a big deal

They are and a lot of this problem is people dumping tons into the air because it looks cool in their diesel.

Some of the stuff does make a better engine, but a lot of the stuff is just for brodozer love fests and everyone pays.

I deleted the DPF, cat, and EGR system on my Ford 6.4. These three systems conspire to kill many of these engines prematurely and strangle the power and MPG. With a tow tune I have no black smoke, far more power, a smoother running engine, and get 25% better MPG. Since the early days of government mandated emissions they have simply traded one evil for another, this is no different.

I agree but all I am saying is these people out rolling coal for the fun of it has brought the hammer down on legit uses of tuning the engine. Hence the statement a lot of this stuff makes a better engine.

RSD (a parts distributor that's big in the subie industry) just settled for $3 million.
