What are you feeding your cat(s)?
 

Tucker is a senior - about 14 now, and lives outdoors here. He has plenty of habitat and loves his home! Super healthy - has never seen the vet except to get neutered when he was 1 y/o. His main diet is Purina One dry food but I've also supplemented with wet food of various types including bisque and stew. Also Sheba.

Wondering what you are giving yours and thanks in advance for any input! :)

One cat likes Royal Canin Savour Exigent (dry food), and the other guy likes those single serve meals of chunky chicken, haha he gets through four or five of these a day at $1 a pop. SPCA boys so they need the best I can give them.

My outdoor feral cats are pretty old and they like Friskies pate. They also eat the Meow Mix I feed my ducks.

When inside it is Costco cat food......outside it is birds, mice, rats and our Main Coon killed and ate most of a racoon!

I read the thread title, and the first thing that went through my mind was Phoebe Buffet's song, Smelly Cat.

Ours are indoor only. Too many predators in the area. Science diet dry and then wet once a day. My cats drink water fine but some don't and need the moisture from wet food.

Have 3.. 1 is 9 months, one will be 8 years , one turns 21 this year

Gravity feeder with Whiskas dry fud for adult cats
They panic if it drops to below 1/4th filled.

And every morning they get 2x100 gram Whiskas wet fud baggie for 2 reaons

and it trains em to be home at breakfast for roll call
It also trains me to get up in the morning cause they will come wake me up if they haven't had their wet fud yet.

oh yeah, and they like their chair in front of the burning stove, a lot.

Grandpa on the right, adopted kid in the middle.. Those 2 get a long quite well.

Blue Buffalo cat foods are supposedly grain free.

My 9 year old indoor cat gets small container of Sheba cuts in the morning and at night. She won't eat the pate. Typical cat.

She has a bowl of dry food for snacking during the day. I usually get what ever has real meat as the first ingredient. She's not choosy about the dry food.

My vet doesn't like grain free. I don't quite understand why. It seems to be very popular with higher end foods. She just said they track what each patient eats and has more issues with cats on grain free diets. Cat only vet office.

We are feeding Blue Buffalo now, mostly urinary care wet food, our male cat had a urinary blockage fairly common but they can die from it, had to bring him to emergency clinic. Cheaper to pay extra for the food.

Fancy feast pate and Redford grain free dry. One of the goofs will only eat raw chicken

My wife's cat is cool but small and skinny.
We were feeding it friskies and it wasn't doing well so I bought that blue buffalo wilderness stuff even though it's almost 3x the times the cost.

The cat is doing a lot better, still small but has put on weight and is healthy.

This showed up at the back door two weeks ago...

The "kitty" eats twice a day, Purina Naturals and Friskies Meaty Bits.

Long story short, the original caretaker moved away but the cat had been neutered and had all shots but is still feral.

I'm hoping my chipmunk and squirrel problem will diminish....

What are you feeding your cat(s)?
 

I have the same cat, same age, inside to sleep and eat then heads outside at night. eats most anything, usually in the spring there is a dead rabbit half eaten on the porch in the morning.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b980cf5143.jpg

I doubt a cat is fast enough to make a really big dent in a chipmunk/squirrel problem.
occasionally getting a sick one, or a really dumb one.. or a couple of babies, sure... but adults in good shape?? Unlikely
there's easier prey then that.

I feed mine Solid Gold-Indigo Moon ($) and Regular Purina blue. He prefers the first one and eats less of it. It probably has enough nutrition. He's still been a bit on the chunky side without another cat around to pester him.

Also give him a 1/4 can or so of different kinds of wet. Older cats don't need as much protein..so a bit less these days.

I've tried a few wet kinds:.
-Aldi turkey livers in small amounts with water (it's pretty thick and fatty). Aldi seafood only in the small can.
The other Aldi flavors he doesn't care much for but will eat.
-Tried a couple BFF flavors which he seemed to like.
-Most of the Purina wet flavors he doesn't mind either and prefers hamburger. Maybe just hungry that day.
-The Solid Gold flavors he and the dog like as well. Especially Turkey-pumpkin. Pumpkin settles the stomach.
-The only bad reaction was Weruva Polynesian BBQ which looked like hearty whole pieces of fish but both he and the dog puked and wouldn't eat again. Probably a bad batch or something.

The dog won't touch any brand of grain-free like the Blue Wilderness. Won't eat it for over a day. Maybe spoiled. idk

I was also feeding dog the same bulk food treats for a while, but then he suddenly started having problems with them.
Store said they changed the formula to peas which should have been innocuous enough.

But mom's dog will chew his paws bloody and start pooping blood if he doesn't eat grain-free.
(I'm a bit allergic to the wheat beers so maybe it's that.)

I don't know. Each animal is different. That was just my experiences.
