"I'll see your $900 Italian loafers for $2.37 and raise you a free patio set, table, and broken surf board."

:D Aren't they still asleep?

you didn't hear this from me but i heard that baz has a cheap local source for patio furniture (look at the pix, stuff is in too good a condition). he uses the guise of craigslist to misdirect anyone from orlando and keep them from finding the fountain of patio furniture.

I have to clarify that....soc sec is just a small part of retirement here.
If I didn't have my pension and savings...I would be holed up every day waiting for the next check.

I was expecting 2800. Don't know what's up yet but i've heard some people are only getting half of what they were expecting.
Anybody else getting shorted?

Are you sure the letter isn't referencing "EIP2?" If it is, then it's a letter from the previous payment, not the current payment.

stevej37 03-25-2021 02:28 PM

The only reason anyone is getting 'shorted' is because their AGI (adj gross income) is too high.

Stimulus checks: IRS sends $1,400 payments to millions of Social Security recipients, including in California

Millions of eligible Americans who haven’t received their $1,400 stimulus check yet could begin to see the payment as early as Wednesday, including recipients of Social Security and other federal benefits, according to the IRS.

About 25 million economic impact payments worth approximately $36 billion were dispursed as part of this fourth batch. The majority — 19 million — went to Social Security recipients who did not file taxes in 2019 or 2020, and didn’t use the non-filers tool last year to receive the federal stimulus funds, the IRS said in a news release.

More than 3 million checks were disbursed to Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries, and nearly 85,000 went to Railroad Retirement Board beneficiaries.

Additionally, more than 1 million supplemental or “plus-up” payments were sent to people who previously received a stimulus check based on their 2019 tax return, but became eligible for new or larger payments after submitting their 2020 tax return, according to the IRS.

The federal agency started processing the payments for the fourth batch last Friday.

I received a letter recently that I was sent a check or debit card for $14x. Too bad I never received either.

Is there a mechanism to do so?

Do you think tearing up or returning your check would mean they instead spend that money on debt service or reduction? Even one penny?

That's not a decision in play for me but the number of people who simultaneously complain about government hand-outs yet eagerly accept one with their name is notable. No single drop of rain believes it is to blame for the flood.

Rick Lee 04-10-2021 08:21 AM

Since I pay taxes, I'll take some of their stolen loot back when they offer it. But I never supported such a bailout and certainly wasn't eager for it.

Baz 04-10-2021 09:41 AM

I'll be darned.

I just checked my bank account online and I got $1,400 back on March 24!

I didn't even know.

Thought I'd get a check in the mail.

I guess it was done online because of my SS retirement online deposit info.

Son of a gun......very cool!

Would you pick up the dollar you noticed on the sidewalk or let the next guy have it?
