Newest stimulus check

Just back from a weeks vacation in FL...checked my online account...
$1400 from the US Treasury. Didn't even know that they were going out yet.:)

cabmandone 03-14-2021 04:26 AM

You old guys get everything first! Vaccines... Stimulus money. :D

stevej37 03-14-2021 05:19 AM

^^^ Still no vaccines for us here. Closest was a few weeks back and over an hours drive away.
I have no problem with that...it'll fill in soon.

As for the stimulus money.....they know we should get it fast. We might not be here for long!

GH85Carrera 03-14-2021 06:06 AM

I have received both vaccination shots, and I just checked and my free money arrived. I have no kids or grandkids of my own to pay it back in the future.

rfuerst911sc 03-14-2021 07:18 AM

Per the gov website mine is scheduled to be direct deposited this coming Wednesday .

pavulon 03-14-2021 08:10 AM

Do people have a choice in whether or not to accept these things? Seems people who don't need them should decline them.

stevej37 03-14-2021 08:14 AM

^^^ Long-term prison inmates are getting them. (whether they want them, or not)

flatbutt 03-14-2021 08:26 AM

How is it possible that I remain one of those that doesn't qualify for a stimulus check while others here in Porscheville do?

stevej37 03-14-2021 08:29 AM

^^^
You will get one...unless your AGI (adjusted gross income) is over 75K
And even if it is over, they just reduce the check amount.

You don't carry a 'green card' ...I assume. :D

GG Allin 03-14-2021 08:49 AM

I'm getting a double whammy soon. I received nothing throughout 2020. I get all of those along with my tax return, plus another $5600. I'm rich now.

Yeah, you Porsche owners are rich. I ain't getting siht now or previous time so don't feel bad.

stevej37 03-14-2021 09:06 AM

My younger sister works for the US Gov and said she still hasn't received the $400 stimulus from Jan?.
She qualifies for it...I told her to give them a call. :D

I wrote to my congressman and both senators about a better way to distribute the money without giving it to those who don't need it. I also provided money to those who did well in 2019 but didn't do well in 2020. I didn't hear a thing back from any of them, and they obviously didn't take my advice.

It's based on income, not wealth. A lot of folks here are retired, or bought their Porsche a long time ago.

GG Allin 03-14-2021 09:35 AM

I certainly should not get anything. I think the income thresholds should be lower, closer to half of what they are or lower. It's ridiculous that a household earning $150k gets any free money from the Gov't.

It's not for YOU. It's a STIMULUS check. They hand it to you, and you're SUPPOSED to then spread it around your community to STIMULATE the economy.

So, go spend it, preferable at locally owned and operated businesses, so that you can STIMULATE the economy.

Please don't send it to VISA or Mastercard, the first round did nothing but stimulate VISAS bank accounts :(

stevej37 03-14-2021 09:40 AM

^^^ That's how I understand it also.
I'll admit that I have no need for it...but I know that I'll be spending it.
Being on a fixed income..SS and Pension...the additional money will be used for entertainment, restaurants, and gas. All things that stimulate the economy.

rwest 03-14-2021 09:44 AM

I’m doing better than what year they were figuring incomes off of due to a recent promotion and because I was sacking a lot into deferred compensation. I got slightly less than the full amount last round, but I still made a donation in the full $600 to a local food shelf- hoping some kids got fed.

We’ll see if this round misses me or not. Haven’t decided where this one will go if I get it.

I rarely eat out or get my hair cut, but been tipping very well at those business since they were shut down for so long.

Presumably, any money going to a CC company is only backing up prior stimulation.

Personally, there will be less than zero decisions to be made about a stimulus check and for that, I'm grateful.

Baz 03-14-2021 09:48 AM

Don't care about who should get it or not.

I just want as much as I can get.

Suck it.....:D

stevej37 03-14-2021 10:03 AM

^^^
Declining it doesn't seem very stimulating to me either. :D

I've paid in my entire life and am going to happily take whatever I can back. You don't get many opportunities like this.....

Almost (?) everyone here has paid in their entire lives.

So they can take my money and give it to someone else? No thanks.

Not even close to true. Barely a majority of Americans pay any federal income tax. So many millions have not paid anything or certainly not their entire lives, but will still get a check. I'm using mine to pay taxes next month. Whatever the gov't. wants me to do with it, I'll do the opposite.

Here, as in Pelican.

^^^ There are a few here that have denied getting a check last time.
What are the upper limits for the agi to qualify? (single and married)

Not that much.
80 or 160 couple gets nothing.

Sooner or later 03-14-2021 11:12 AM

I received the 1st one. Didn't get the 2nd one for some unknown reason, even though I am below the AGI. Currently it shows no info for this latest round.

Not that I really care.

stevej37 03-14-2021 11:12 AM

^^^ Thanks Alan
Explains some of the complaints.

This round old bank/private debt walked on may suction all or part of your check. Back taxes/missed child support will not impact it.

^^^ $1400 goes a long ways for a prison inmate.

Keeps the economy stimulated. :D

Govt. wants you to spend it. If you get it, then blow it on pizza or beer, give big tips whatever.

That increases what economists call the "velocity" of the money, and it will go to those on the bottom.
