Marvelous Marvin
Probably won't resonate here, but he was my favorite fighter, for many reasons.
People who know boxing, have boxed, understand. I was tall and lanky when I learned how to box and as I grew older I learned to hate to box the Hagler's of the ring. That said, I would have liked to have met him. The video is of one of the greatest first rounds ever. Incredible. Great tribute in the links here: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/03/marvelous-marvin-rip.php

I was a huge fan of his, I suspect for many of the same reasons he was your favorite. Not only a fantastically skilled fighter with one of the biggest hearts to ever enter the ring, a class act away from the ring as well. Certainly one of the all-time greats. RIP, Mr. Hagler.

I can't remember if Marvin was prior to boxing being rigged, but I liked the Haggler. RIP.

Yup. Hagler/Hearns is one of the greatest fights ever. Those guys made sure the fight would not go the distance. They stood toe-to-toe and hit each other in the face for 2.5 rounds.

He was my dad’s favorite fighter, and as a result, mine too.

Deceased buddy & I paid to watch that one on closed circuit...probably the most action in a short time either of us had seen. We were screaming through every round...so was everybody else in the room.

Only 66, too soon. And I'll add to the dogpile, the Hagler/Hearns fight was the most explosive thing I've seen.

He was a warrior, just kept coming forward. It’s too bad he was robbed his last fight.
