Dang. Helmets have gotten huge in the past 20 years!

Bought a new 2020 Bell M8 helmet and it’s ginormous compared to my 2000 Bell helmet. And no, my head didn’t swell up.

I’m sure it’s a safety issue, as technology has improved.

I tried to put in my trusty and 25 year helmet bag and it was a no go.

I notice a major difference in visor size.
Open wheels tend to run a smaller visor opening as their isn't a windshield for first impact point.

Yeah. I'm a big guy and my head looks freakishly large with my helmet on... Action shot from last month with the freakishly large helmet...

Had my Black Bell for 10 years, looking forward to a new helmet.
They say the new Stilo ST5 is a half inch smaller than previous ST5.
Got it with radio and helmet blower too.

Got some new gloves too.

You wear a helmet in the bathroom? Hope you got the fresh air blow hookup.

Did Smokey Yunnick shrink that BMW or do you just have a really big head?

The pictures don’t show the difference.

After I took the pix, I removed the film off the front, so the eye ports, shield, etc are the same.

You can see on my old helmet, the attachment points for my Issac head restraint. I’m going to cut those off and reuse them on the new helmet.

I have seen this as well.

My current use helmet is a Stilo. It is big, but still keeps me comfortably away from the roll cage tubes. More concerned with helmet weight in the event my head is moving about so long as I am not having a significant impact with my cage.

I really don't care what I look like with it on. I just want to go home to my family every night....

+1 I just got a new Stilo Carbon (SA2020) and it's much larger than my prior SA2015.

While talking helmets, what’s everyone using for beam and neck restraints?

I’m going back with my Issac, which attaches to the helmet with a quick release pin. It attaches to rollers on the shoulder straps and has a mini shock absorber between the two.

Stilo helmet owners are you happy with the Stilo radio ear muffs vs the traditional ear buds?
Also any suggestions for an inline helmet blower motor that is quiet.

I replaced my HJC with a ZAMP for the upcoming season. It’s quite. Bit lighter, but not likely as light as those gorgeous Stilos and Bells you folks have. I’m impressed with the quality for the price point.

Necksgen also since 2014. Comfortable and I actually think it fits/secures the shoulder belts a little better than a HANS.
