How the president actually affected me over the years?

I hope this stays here as it is how you were/are affected personally by the actions of the president. Most people complain about the person in the white house but generally it is just because they don't like the party and have little affects. So the other night I was thinking of all the times I personally had been effected so here goes, please add yours if there are any.

1. When I graduated high school, 1963, I worked as a draftsman for the Delaware State Highway department and we got our funding from the federal government. The second year I was there (just before the US Navy) there was a federal budget stalemate so we at the state level got NO money, so we could stay home or work and get paid later. I chose the later.

2. In 1969 the president ordered the armed services to lower costs so advancements were cut to near zero. MM1s were allowed only 6, yes 6 for the whole navy. I was fortunate enough to be one of those.

3. In 1972 or so the cost cutting was on again so they started advancing you BUT you didn't get the new pay until later. I made E7 (MMC, chief) in November 1972 but didn't officially make it until May 1973.

4. About the same time federal money ran out and paydays were "adjusted" from twice a month 15th and 30th so.......the September 30th payday was moved to October 1st which is the NEW physical year! Since I was deployed I really never noticed it.

5. During the Iranian hostage crisis we were one of two shadow ships protecting the carrier USS Constellation but an order from the white house said were were NOT allowed to "shoot"!? Lucky for us our CO knew some folks at Subic Bay Naval Station and fenagled 4 mounts for 50 caliber M2 "ma duces" and loaned us the guns to put on them and a bunch of ammo. We had to put the mounts on after leaving Subic and remove them before we came back after we were done!

Those are just several and let us know of yours please.
John

Um, lets see, high taxes, inflation, greed, lies, stupid wars, collapsing economy, failure everywhere. Not following the rule of law, and thats from 2001 back. Now we are going down the crapper...Got a rope to cling on to the rim?

Ahhh, the good old days of (relatively) minor corruption.

In 1993 I got an all expense paid trip, certainly not a vacation, to Mogadishu Somalia courtesy of Mr. Clinton. As the Defense Ready Brigade at Ft. Stewart (24th ID) we got the alert as the battle was still on going. It took about week to get our Bradley Fighting Vehicles and M1 tanks railed to the port and loaded on ships.

By about the 20th of October we arrived thanks to the Air Force. Seems every time I've had to go to war the Air Force has been kind enough to give me a ride.

There was pretty much no plan on what we were to do while there and shortly after arrival POTUS announced the planned withdrawal date of 1 April, 1994, or thereabouts. So the skinnies knew it was just a waiting game and we would be gone.

In the 6 months there we built up forces, stuff, and installations, only to withdraw. Pretty strange.

Got shot at a bunch and mortared a bunch as well. Usually harassing stuff but when you hear them crackle by your noodle it is a little unnerving. By the time we left I had seriously dropped my guard.

To say that I get a little torqued when I hear Ilhan Ohmar speak or disrespect this country is an understatement.

In our Bradley we had a news photo clipping of the US Soldier being dragged thru the streets half naked. We were there to really mess some folks up and someone at a higher level decided not to let us level the place.

I would say adversely for the most part.

I expect that in the next month or two, Mr Potatohead will have me looking for a new line of work.

I’m glad we finally have someone in charge who realizes the seriousness of a freakin pandemic.

Johnson created my career..the DOT.

Reagan and Bush I made owning some guns I'd like to have financially impossible

Clinton let me trade $60 worth of Glock mags for a really nice thick 18" 24k gold necklace at a pawn shop.

Bush II and his cronies drove the country into massive debt and got us involved in a land war in Asia (never do that, or go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line) that still goes on today.

Obama made getting ammo for guns I own impossible for all but about 6 months of his presidency.

Trump made me spend a bunch of money on guns and ammo 'cause they were finally available, so I figure he owes me $300 for each year of being able to shoot a lot since I could actually use a local range that is members only vs driving 40 miles to the free public range once every 3 months.

All I can think of is Reagan slashed the USGS budget while I was working there, so they had to lay me off. It would have been cool to have a career in geological research. I was working on a program doing research on earthquake prediction.

Shouldn't that be in green font and since biden’s previous administration funded it he knows what they created.
Well, under the traitor obama, with his constant attack on high achievers, our retail stores suffered, is threatening businesses that have elaborate Christmas New Year eve parties killed that part of our entertainment business, in 2012, when it was clear that he would still infest the white house and obamacare would happen, our doctor partners in a sleep lab that we were heavily invested in, our doctor partners retired and moved to South America to practice, costing us very dearly, his policies destroyed my retired plans and financial well-being.
After his attacks on Las Vegas, the people we worked with out there didn't have any work.

Hmm.

I have a younger friend in detroit that complained about how the first lady took way his cookie from school lunch.

Personally I do not see the president as divine god emperor that decides everything.
One man, 24 hours in his day the same as us, has to sleep and eat for some of those.

It is the guys that feed information that run things.
Mr T. went and dined at more than one restaurant.
Which ticked off those trying to withhold certain foods.

Mr. T. also made an excelent exercise in exhibiting disinformation.
He can say the neo-nazi's should be condemed totally, and yet the press reports he called them very fine people.
I'm glad he got in a term of office, he made the world more exciting.
The first president that I am aware of to share memes.

Like when the undershirt industry took a huge hit because Clark Gable wasn't wearing one when he took his shirt off in It Happened One Night
There is a reason millions are spent on advertising every year and as it has been clearly proven his comments, actions and policies hurt the American economy and small businesses.
I know for a fact that everytime he said high achievers weren't paying enough taxes, our sales dropped to nothing, when he made his comments about corporate holiday parties and maybe they weren't paying enough taxes if they could afford parties, long time corporate clients canceled events.

I can't think of any "the gubmint didn't give me enuff" stories, most of my stories were about them from taking stuff from me to give to other people.

I lost my job because the Gumbit shut down everything but I'm lucky... The guy I worked for lost everything he had including his house and his wife. He was able to keep his second car because it was worth less than $6,000.

Just one of many.

Jimmy Carter pushed up the interest rates for home loans to insane levels. I know people that bought a house and were happy to get a 15% loan for 30 years. My wife worked at a saving and loan and they were charging 18% for home mortgages at the time.

I was really shrewd. I managed to get a real bargain loan rate of just 12.5% for 30 years. Shortly after I ran an amortization table on my then new Commodore Vic 20. After one month the principle paid was like a $1.40 So I figured I owned the plastic face plate for a light switch. It would take a year before I could own the light switch.

Then I checked out what it would cost would be for a 20 year loan, and it was just a few dollars more per month and 10 years less time so I upped my payment.

Now, go check your home loan and see what your payment would be at 12.5%. Thank you Jimmy Carter.

I sure wish I could find a 12.5% return on any investment now.
