f you have an external amplifier running in addition to the head unit....I might have missed that and you problem could be there.
I do have an external AMP but it is ONLY hooked up to the subwoofer box in the rear...... there is nothing connecting the amp to the door speakers. |
my only guess for why/how both is, surge of power when you hooked up battery....old capacitors in the cross overs maybe couldnt take it...thats why I asked a few pages back if the stereo/head unit was on or off at the time you hooked the battery up
its a guess and has been my guess going back to the beginning...worse case scenario, if you still dont have sound after bypassing the cross overs, youll at least know they are ok Those cross overs are not feeding the back speakers, correct? If they are, never mind my suggestion |
Thought I would interrupt with a couple questions.
You mentioned your hu as being an Alpine? Any chance from Crutchfield? |
Steve,.... i did NOT buy the HU from Crutchfield....
Those cross overs are not feeding the back speakers, correct? Correct.... the crossovers are NOT connected to or feeding the sub woofer in the rear. |
The reason I asked...they have a great help-line for customers.
I've used them a couple times and they are very helpful. |
got it, thanks. i wonder if they would help.... just because.

|
so the plot thickens..... WTF ??????
|
OK so i finished with the SUV....
now i go to pull out the 911 and start the process of elimination to find the problem........ (i havent touched anything since this morning when it did NOT work and no sound out of the door speakers of tweeters) i get it..... start the car, and turn on the deck out of habit....... its sounds different..... what the he77 is going on........... it sounds great! music coming from the door speakers and the tweeters BOTH sides! Im still scratching my head! any ideas? |
slow internet connection? did you run a tweeter upload and download speed check?
|
Healed itself. Don't make yourself crazy trying to figure it out, it just is.
|
your car played an early april fools joke on all us
|
Start car.
Battery was too low, ok with alternator juicing it? Or....there is a power wire to something that is only hot when car running? |
blucille....tweeter download? noooooooo that way to fancy to the relic system i have......... nothing fancy about my system..... sounds great, crystal clear but not fancy modern technologies.
herr oberst..... im going with your suggestion..... started and turned off several times as i detailed the he77 out the interior and it still work and sounds awesome! ramonsfreak...... it sure did! i am just gonna accept it and enjoy, cant thank you enough S. by the way...... would you be able to send me a link to the manual? (as if you havent done enough) i dont know the deck and need to set the time, etc etc. i hooked up my bluetooth and it is paired up and everything.... just need to find where in the deck i need to get it to play over the sound system.... i know i know... read the manual! hahahaha techman1..... not the battery... it was fully charged. no other systems hot when care is off. |
Redo the connections going to the xover boxes, probably have some wire touching somewhere.
Clean it all up, restart. PS take a pic of the xovers, if they are MB Quart I likely have spare set you can have, got gajillions of them in my stash. |
Randy,
Thank you for the offer, you guys are just awesome, all of you. As of 7pm tonight, Friday all is well, stereo is blasting away, door speakers, tweeters, and subwoofer. So I dont think ill need the crossovers you offered. If things go south, I may take you up on the offer! For now, ive learned my lesson, leave well enough alone !!!!! Thanks to ALL of you guys. |

bluetooth? not sure it is capable of bluetooth. i know i had an ipod hooked up but i’m not certain if whatever input connection i was using will accept your bluetooth....this unit is pretty old. i think i bought it in 2007
edit: page 20 of the manual refers to hooking up an external “bluetooth box” so i guess it can do it but you’ll have to dig through the manual and figure it out |
