New Cayenne

After selling the Tundra found a high mileage Cayenne that got me thinking that one vehicle could take the place of the Tundra and 328i. Started looking and found this GTS on Long Island. Really happy with it on the drive back, can't wait to get it registered at the end of the month.

Nce! Congrats.

That the one from LI you told me about last week?

Very pretty.

I can see why you were hot for the deal.

If you come across another like it send it my way.

onewhippedpuppy 03-17-2021 04:52 PM

Nice! I had a 2009 GTS that I really liked. Drove like a true sports sedan which is about the highest praise I could give an SUV. Considering your location that should make for a killer parts hauler and winter ride.

MMiller 03-17-2021 07:57 PM

Awesome, great looking ride Shaun..

Here's a hot tip for ya Shaun - set the mirror adjuster to the right mirror. Then, when say parallel parking, the right mirror will point down (when in Reverse) so you can check the rear wheel at the curb. -wouldn't want to curb rash those nice GTS rims.

Nice! Wasn't the GTS available with a stick? Probably rare as a hen's tooth stateside. How much did that set you back? I have thought about it, but then I look at what my Jetta wagon costs in upkeep and I go keep the Porsche on the sports cars side of the car family.

onewhippedpuppy 03-18-2021 06:35 AM

GTS was available with a stick but it’s crazy rare. Seems fun but I recall reviews at the time saying the shifter was clunky.

island911 03-18-2021 06:36 AM

Yes, all Peppers, until recently could be had with a stick. Just a few percent made that way.

The automatics are Japanese boxes IIRC and shift so smoothly, and smartly. - it seemingly knows what you want; holding a lower gear when neutral throttle in a corner, for example. Dropping down a steep hill it will also hold lower gear (throttle dependent). -the car has a few G-sensors, so it knows what's going on.

What does GTS stand for, Grand Touring Sport? Great Turbo Stuff? IS there a Turbo? Assume that has the factory-tow-package. Nice score Shawn. Also, the interior is not beige, a darker interior looks good on these.

It's the one. Bonus is I got to have authentic Queens diner food and pizza from a shop that's been open for 75 years. What more could you ask for other than a great bagel and some lox.

Thanks Glen, my BMW does that and it's a nice feature. Rims will never be curbed! They are one of the many bright spots of the truck.

No idea JT but yes it's a factory tow package. No Turbo, just a tune to get it to 405 hp. And maybe something more because it's definitely faster, etc. than an equivalent S. Maybe gearing? This is almost certainly the truck I would have ordered new back in 2009. Black is nice too but the graphite (meteor grey metallic which is different from earlier 911 MGM) is a great color for it.

March 30th can't come soon enough. It's first hauling job will be some Ferrari 365 GTC window frames that are too big for the BMW which I'm giving to a friend. Then I have 6000 lbs of steel shelving to haul with it. That will be two trips just to be safe, I won't be used to the truck to really know it.

Shaun @ Tru6 03-18-2021 01:37 PM

I typed the VIN into Google and got a site that listed the truck. Did this with my W124s.

Very Nice...

Beautiful truck! Nice get.

aigel 03-18-2021 02:21 PM

100k MSRP!

island911 03-18-2021 08:38 PM

One thing is certain, the horror of Porsche making aGD$^#(!$#! SUV has subsided.

Jeff Alton 03-18-2021 08:41 PM

^^^^ right? Our 958 Turbo is in the top 5 (of 40 or so) Porsches I have owned. It will take something special for it to leave the family..... :) Thank god they produced them, our beloved company may have gone under..... :)

WPOZZZ 03-19-2021 12:34 AM

That is a spectacular GTS!

Shaun @ Tru6 03-19-2021 03:32 AM

It's definitely a lookback truck. I have found myself looking out the window a few times at it. Only 11 more days, time enough to go through the drain holes and figure out how to use all the controls inside and actually thoroughly inspect it and get a new set of tires on it.
