lost 1st and 2nd gears !!!
Here is the story: I replaced my guide fork which was worn and loose, and switched to Swepco 201. I positioned the dongle in the two tabs aligned as shown on the picture. The problem is that when I try to select 1st and 2nd gears, I get 3rd and 4th. I also get 5th and reverse where I should. Those 4 gears shift easily. I played with the shift coupler, this did not help. I saw no metal bits in my old oil, so no major mechanical breakdown...What I need is a basic understanding of the gear selection mecanism to be sure I did nothing wrong.
So, correct me if I am wrong : I saw two fork rods , each one having a tab. The dongle selects the position of the rods. Each rod can move forwards, backwards or be in the middle. When both are in their middle position, this is neutral, right ? Now, since there are 6 gears, it seems that 3rd and 4th can only be slected when both rods move backwards or forwards, is that correct ? Otherwise, I must be missing something.... ![]() Aurel 78 SC Targa ![]() |

Why didn't you post this in the 911 technical forum?
This must be a first - an on-topic post in the off-topic area!
