So, how was your day?
For the first time in memory I didn't do a damn thing today - I mean nothing productive.
The wind was howling and a cold rain was pelting down. It just didn't feel like a day to be busy. I built a fire, put on a sweat shirt and some warm socks, poured a glass of brandy, and spent the afternoon sitting in front of the fire, listening to the wind and rain and watching the birds struggling with the wind at the feeders. Spent a few hours with a book of logic puzzles. I didn't even eat anything until dinner. So how was your day? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1616105979.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1616105979.jpg |
I fought with the damn furnace at my house all day. I should have just called it and grabbed a glass of bourbon. It would have been more productive. Rain and SNOW... Nick... NOT HAPPY.
|
Perfect bliss! Same cold rain here. I wish I was doing what you were doing all day.
Need to get the 911 inspected tomorrow, but the rain is supposed to turn to snow mix. I don't care. I need the sticker. I will drop the car off and walk 1/2 a mile to work in the rain, then walk back. Uphill both ways. It'd better pass. |
Wife to retired guy: What are you going to do today?
Retired guy: Nothing Wife: But you didn't do anything yesterday. Guy: I wasn't finished. |
Save me a glass man.. I'm on my way!!
|
what kind of brandy??
|
Etched two factory original two fans and housings for a pair 73 RSs today and they turned out beautifully. Definitely a great day, they can be tricky. Glass of cabernet at hand as I type, hot Italian sausages on the grille. Will be a great night too.
|
Had some homemade hummus and pita.
Tomorrow I shall attempt flight via fart propulsion So yeah... Im tired of pandemic |

OTOH, it's very smooth and crafted to perfection, it says so right on the bottle. So there's that. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1616108186.jpg |
You're gonna need to go get some more if I'm heading that way. It has been a LONG and really bad day. I mean, that's like three good sips and it's GONE.
|
It was sunny and almost 50 here today.
Along with a north wind at close to 40mph it felt like 5 degrees! Word puzzles are great on days like this....my fav is the Jumble. I play it every time I find it in a newspaper. |
Today was usual: Went to the P.O., grocery store, cut up some tree trimmings to get them ready for the trash and burning pile, make some posole for dinner after my lovely wife gets home from work.
|
Is it pozole or posole?
Pozole seems to be the preferred spelling in Mexico proper, while posole shows up more often in borderlands recipes. The words “posole” and “pozole” come, of course, from Nahuatl, the Uto-Aztecan language spoken in various forms from pre-Hispanic times |

See how ya are!? I'd make a run to the store for you!
In all fairness though, I did say "save me a glass" not "save me a bottle" I should have been more specific. |

It was nice weather, 72 degrees and day 4 of filming. Today was "Exterior Turkish Countryside" out at Vasquez Rocks.
Tomorrow is "Interior Hong Kong Hospital/ Night" and "Interior Prague Veterinary Clinic/ Night" down in Long Beach with a 3PM call time and a 2AM wrap. It's what we call in the biz a "Fraturday". Screws up your weekend since you lose some of your Saturday. Not looking forward to the 60 mile drive home at 2:30 in the morning. |

Every day is a good day. Grandkids all live within 30 minutes, and I have 5 different kinds of citrus trees at my house. Meyer lemons and pink grapefruit currently, oranges are done
I can't recall the last time I did nothing all day. Plenty of time for that after I am dead |
Drizzly day. Alignment on daughter's car. Sat in waiting room at my guy's shop trying to wake up. He charged me $40 because it was my daughter's car and it was "Be nice to Bob day".
Brake job on her car. Ugh! On my rack at 10:00am. Gathered parts yesterday. Front pads and rotors. Rear pads. Absolutely a no problem job. OK, I had to use a hand file to clean up where those stainless slider thingies mount on the caliper brackets. Finished at 7:00PM tonight. Nine hours to do a two hour job. No labor charge. Surprisingly, I pissed an immense amount of time away on a car forum with no regrets. Couple of Yuenglings in later afternoon when the work got harsh but I pulled through. New wipers tomorrow for her. Time to rest up. |

Sounds quite good. Good for the mind I'd say. Me, I tidied up the workshop after a couple of big projects where I just put everything down anywhere until I got to the stage I couldn't find anything. So a weight off my shoulders having completed the boring part of a project. |
My day was great, mid-afternoon I thought it was Weds, and then I realized it was actually Thurs. and the weekend was one less day away than I thought

Let me put it this way... tomorrow morning, I’m going to teach some senior engineers how to do a root cause analysis...
Great day... nope. |
Wrapping up before vacation. Cranked emails. Did a bunch of calls. Lunch with a referral partner. Blew off a meeting. Came home. Felt “poopy.” Done nothing since. Wife got Costa Rican for dinner as it is my ‘now home) college son’s favorite.
Write a cover letter to my accountant and the. Brainless screen consumption. Brandy and fire seems nicer. |

Changed out the guts of a toilet at the condo and touched up the tub while I was there. Tenant with the 644 signed the lease today and paid her deposit, rent for the rest of this month and next month. Took the dog riding and for a walk. Made a seafood risotto for mom's dinner. Took the gf out for dinner afterwards.

Wednesday was a really busy day for me, I took a 1/2 day vacation from work (off at 10 am) to put a second coat of paint on the kitchen walls, then I cleaned, and fixed 2 push mowers that I will be selling, brought up a loader full of firewood, fixed dinner, did the dishes, and re-filled the hot tub.
Thursday, not much of anything, we had constant 30-50 mph winds with pelting rain, so even the dogs didn't want to go out. I sat in my overstuffed leather recliner, and watched several episodes of "Street Outlaws", and ate leftovers. |

Sounds like you need to go to the "do you meditate" thread and answer "yes." If you sit around all day enjoying harsh weather from a distance that probably counts. And if you did any logic puzzles, then you exercised your brain. You may need to try harder to do nothing. |

Wind! Wind is what caused all my grief. Furnace is working fine today. I spent the better part of yesterday nursing the furnace and trying to figure out what was wrong... and it was the friggin WIND. I was on the phone with a factory tech. He's saying "try this.." I say "did it already". This goes on for a while until he suggests replacing the inducer assembly. I said "can't be the problem. Has to be wind related" I even did some work on the vent termination.. damn thing still wouldn't complete a cycle without tripping a 31 code. Friggin wind.

Carried my MK tile saw upstairs. That should have been filmed. Never thought twice about it when I was younger. Had to take a half day break after that calamity.
|
A day best forgotten. My 90 yo MIL is living in an old farm house with a stone foundation. There is about four and a half feet of headroom down there. After we lost our snow cover, we had another cold snap and the wind was blowing between the stones enough that the pressure switch on her water pump froze. After a few minutes work with a heat gun, I went into town for a couple of cans of expanding spray foam. My attempts to reduce the drafts fell short so in a last ditch I-don't-want-to-spend-any-more-time-in-this-cellar, I went home and built a box with a thermostatically controlled incandescent light bulb inside and installed it over the pump.
A glass of scotch was my well earned reward. No more freeze ups! Best Les |

I went to work. Boring.
Nice stove. Vermont Castings Encore? Cadillac of wood stoves. I had one for years and the kids killed it by over firing. |
I went to work too, but it was still a pretty good day, taxied a G650 for power runs and compass swings, driving $100M around the ramp always gets ones attention engaged. Then some tool shopping on the company's dime , always fun. Ended with a nice relaxed eve with a fire on a night nice enough to enjoy it outside from the hot tub.
