Pretty sure every neighborhood has people who end up hoarding. That's why people want bigger homes. That's a item from one of George Carlin's rifs.

Hoarding, beside being a health hazard is a definite fire hazard. There's a certain level of mentality to live that lifestyle.

But those neighborhood/city policies have a specific objective that instead targets DIY car projects. What about other motorized repair e.g. lawn mowers, go-carts, golf carts, machinery of all types? Why just automotive repair?

Me thinks some public rep has a thing about car repairs in the privacy of your home. Perhaps he/they are manipulated/funded by automobile manufacturers?

One of the videos I posted showed what looked like an official summary of bill donors that included Nissan, Honda, GM on the pro side and repair/parts industry names such as Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, etc. on the con side. They certainly have vested interests in service and parts depts. as additional profit centers.

Now that hospitals have the technology to inseminate women we need to outlaw sex - even in people's own homes.

sheesh, the stories of crazy sex... clearly this needs to be banned now that we have hospital professionals for that type of thing. No more crazy DIY at home. And no at-home macaroni art either. Crazy kids.... what a mess.

I agree, I don't want cars on jackstands all over the neighborhood for months on end.

You are working on vehicles that are not registered to the address. This is likely to reduce that "for profit" operations in the neighborhood like running a CL ad that you will do brake jobs for $100 at your house. I agree.

But then there is a guy down the street with a circle drive that has 9-11 cars parked in his driveway looking like a used car lot. Tarp over a couple of them because the windows in the door don't roll up, etc. No one wants to live next to the hoarder with an auto graveyard on his front lawn.

The poster was asked what he was doing when he was cited, and he refused to divulge that information. Proves he is full of crap, and just freaking out about his freedumbs. The poster is a liar. He has a barn with a lift, yet claims he's not doing automotive work? Yea, ok.

He is also a passive aggressive teenager: "I am going to start doing major automotive repair immediately and make as much noise as possible, starting with running a leaf blower all day long every day because that is not a code violation."

After others kept pressing the issue, he finally admits he's got wrecks of cars scattered around his property.

Everyone in that thread agreed with the complaint.

Look at 4:05. There are 2 neighbors right on that property line.
They have to look at the veritable junkyard this clown hoarder is storing on his yard.

Trailer that has not been registered in 50 years, unregistered cars, projects that will never be completed, cars that need engines. You describe your intent to install a trolley hoist in the barn, and use inadequate used building materials to build a structure. Not to mention the nearby pond which is likely used to irrigate food and crops being contaminated by your “projects”.

Sorry man. You are the textbook reason of why laws like that get written in the first place.

No, the screaming hysterical girls did not read the law.

The Sacramento regulations mention boats and farm equipment and would probably embrace pool equipment if push came to shove.

The letter of the law is severe as Zeke mentioned but if you are not an inconsiderate a-hole you will not be messed with.

Ohio BMV has regulations regarding emission equipment on cars from 68-ish forward. You can't touch shiet. I mean it's got it's CARB on. You can't even think about messing with it and the only thing you are allowed to do is put it back the way it was from the factory if it was modified and it breaks.

Unenforced.

By making laws against everything, anyone can be fined /arrested on a whim.

Yep.

If Mrs Kravitz can get an audience to listen to her.

What do you propose as a solution to this absurd regulation?

I hadn't thought about a hoarder until today. This guy would be the perfect neighbor.

Earlier today, I was at a new body shop talking to the manager. We talked about what I was peddling, then somehow it came to the freeze, busted pipes, where we lived etc.. Turns out she lives right down the street from the baddest pick of them all. This guy has one of everything. I'm pretty sure he has some parts for the USS Constitution. She would have never known unless I told her.

It's nice neighborhood. From the street, you'd have to look twice to notice there is a lot of stuff there. I told her, if you can't find something, he probably has it.

My thoughts are with Randy, don't like it, move. My neighbors don't seem to care, it's orderly. YMTO,BIDGAF. you might think otherwise, but i don't give a feck

I'd imagine the law affects poor people who can't afford $200/hr dealership prices.
(you know what is next)

If there was a policy to outlaw a-holes, that would go far in any society. Examples to ID such behavior would be easy but lengthy. That behavior knows no bounds.

Here are some videos to ID that affliction:

A-holes are not the topic.

The topic is other than transportation vehicles are addressed. You did not pick up on that.

If the issue is not wanting disabled cars sitting for an extended period, the dumbest thing to do is tell the owner he can't fix it.
Legislate unsightly cars if you wish, but the idea a guy can't work on his car will create bigger problems.

"Until I can afford the tow and the shop to fix it, there it sits."

Let the guy who has the knowledge and the tools get his car back on the road.

^^

It's California, the city will have the cars removed and send him a bill, or more likely, send him a bill for everyday of "unsightliness".

Sounds like there is a market for "car tents" (complete with rusty shopping cart. )

Or just fill it full of dirty blankets, empty a garbage bag from McD's and claim it to be your home.
