Question Can you identify this item, please?

Two pieces. Some kind of composite material. Seems like it's meant to be outdoors.

There's a hole cut that goes all the way through if you stack them in the right orientation. Which almost makes you wonder if this is a flag or banner holder.

Any input would be appreciated!

the shorter one is an ash tray

the taller one is an outdoor toilet

both designed to be used side by side

seriously, regarding the bigger one with the opening, i imagine a piece missing...like a square bucket type thing that fit into the opening that might have been for flowers or a plant or possibly a removable ashtray piece that would have fit into the opening

I think it is a water fountain base - the hole allows power cord to be fed through the fixture up to the pump.

This is your (new) turtle's (new) temple.

From the upper ash tray section, he makes compelling Mussolini type speeches, pounds his fists, and rules his minions.

The hole in the leg is a parasol mount, to provide shade so he doesn't dry out while spewing his impassioned manifesto for world domination.

Google has spoken. It's a step stool.

It’s a very early style of an IKEA booster stool. You can tell because it’s a 2 part assembly as opposed to the 65 part assembly of today’s model.

It allowed you to put surfboards atop Volvos without straining your back.

Very rare as surfing never really took on in Sweden, low temps and all.

Thanks for the laughs and also for the few sincere attempts but I don't think anyone has it yet.

I don't feel so bad now not knowing what these are. I thought I just didn't "see it" and it was something commonly used elsewhere but I guess not.

I still think that hole going through both pieces is a key factor for ID. Who knows....

It looks like they’re made to go together, but I think the way they fit is that the larger one goes over the smaller one - the opposite of what you tried in the photo above. I think you’ll find that the larger one stacks perfectly over the smaller one.

Something is made to go through the opening on the larger piece and rest in the indentation on the smaller piece.

Nope - just tried it. Larger one doesn't fit over the smaller.

The hole lines up perfectly when the smaller is on top so I think that's how it was meant to be.

I think MBAtarga (post #6) may be onto something that this might be a base for a fountain. The material it's made out of especially seems like some kind of outdoor application.

The electric cord going down and inside the feature so it's hidden also makes sense.

Will do some searches......

yea, something fits into the opening....either a planter or whatever

one thing I know for sure, my wife would insist on me throwing those out....I tend to keep crap like this until I can create a use for it :-) which sometimes takes a decade or more
