Reminiscing

Now that I have gotten up there in age I find myself wistfully reminiscing about events from long ago. It just seems like it was yesterday that I was in reform school. Where the Doc to classify me for which work detail I would be assigned to had me putting variably shaped objects into the corresponding slot in the board. After trying to put one of the objects in a slot for a bit the Doc stopped me and said, "You have been unsuccessfully trying to fit one of the objects in the slot for 5 minutes." I replied, "I am colour blind." He then stamped my paperwork classifying me for the "Lavatory" detail. I told the Doc thanks cause "now it is a cinch that I can get the job I always dreamed of having when I got out because now I will have job experience."

I'm thinking of writing something (book/script) called "My Three Lives" based on the "what if" I decided to do one thing or another at the critical age of 20.

For many it is the decision they make while in senior year of High School or the first job out of college that sets their course in life. My schedule had a few dead-ends that needed to be exhausted before I found direction, and held steady this direction despite other opportunities that came my way and the great hills I had yet to climb. The list of people I met and had exchanges with is truly note worthy, I'm sure that I'll have to water it down or get releases, or just wait until they all die off and call it fiction.

Certainly a decision made as a young lad in reform school also has it's repercussions tabs, but I'm still trying to figure out exactly what based on your short musing. I'm picturing a black & white film with dark sarcasm and a narrator's voice for tabs, something reflecting his personality.

Something similar to this for tabs: The Tin Drum (film)

The Tin Drum: Bang the Drum Loudly
https://www.criterion.com/current/posts/2624-the-tin-drum-bang-the-drum-loudly

Quote:
.............making it even clearer that the narrator in the child’s body is far more worldly wise than his innocent appearance would suggest, and reminding us that the often comic events we see on-screen in the first part of the film prefigure the Holocaust............

First published in 1959, the book, about a little boy, Oskar, who refuses to grow, caused a huge controversy in Germany, both because of its bawdiness and because it dealt in such an ironic and mocking fashion with the Nazi era. ...............
Let me know if you need help with the story boards.

Just replace Nazi's with Hippies and I think you'll find direction.

I am lucky that my Juvie records are closed about burning down the house with my parents in it...it would have severely limited my prospects in life. As such I am perfectly free to create whatever mayhem that strikes my fancy in the world.

On a lighter note I have often alluded to and commented upon on the road I have traveled since I was 20. When was 20 I suffered a tramatic event where I became "WOKE" and not this hokum bokum Liberal? Progressive mind fk babble either. At the time I wanted nothing more than resume my blissful slumber, but you can not unring a bell. My epiphany on the road to Damacus was that I didn't know anything not only about myself but other peoples motivations as well. There was a whole other universe out there waiting to be discovered and examined. Not wanting to be a clueless git I set about learning everything I could. I became a lifetime devoted adherent of the Socratic axiom, "that the unexamined life is not worth living." Focusing on that greater endeavor cost me the pursuit of greater materiel achievement. As Jesus so aptly said. "What does it profit a man to gain the world only to lose his soul." So while my achievement can not be measured and is not readily apparent in material terms..I have become effective in my navigation through this life where everything is clearly delineated.

That hasn't been settled?
It would be Godzilla because King Kong is just a movie character and Godzilla is real.

Kong would try to sneak up and attempt a hate crime, low-blow attack. But Gozirra would annihilate him with the fiery Kung pao spicy chilli sauce breath.

Movie was much better than I thought it would be. Definitely worth seeing on IMAX.

On the topic of reminiscing, early 70s when I was 5 or 6 my older brother and I were watching the first King Kong done in stop action. We were glued to the TV. Mom said we had to go. My brother said to turn off the TV so it would be there when we got back. I called him an idiot and unplugged the TV so the movie couldn't get in. We would just plug it back in when we got back and keep watching.

That's funny.

I too have been reminiscing a lot lately. I happy to see I am not alone, thought maybe it was depression? Fortunately it is of a much happier time, a childhood I loved and enjoyed.

Old people have better recall on older memories but have trouble remembering yesterday.
