Crybaby

You know who's a crybaby? Me. That's right. I probably cry at least once a week. A song, or a movie, or a poem or story, or video. Physical pain or anger or sadness rarely do it, if ever. They are always tears of joy. The National Anthem makes the rain fall. Baz posted a Random Acts of Kindness video and the rain fell. Once a month or so, I have to stop what i am saying and gather myself before continuing to talk.

I am quarrelsome, as many here know. I deal in conflict, as my profession. But I am definitely a crybaby. There. I said it.

I have passed out due to pain/trauma but never cried. Cue up videos of abused people and creatures and I will be sobbing like a baby

You guys are not alone.

Try singing Dan Fogleburg's "Leader of the Band" during a gig and realizing you have to stop thinking about your own father or else you will start choking up in front of a room full of people.
Not very professional.

Read some stories here it can really tug at your heart strings.

Bill Murray has hooked up with this crew.

When I saw the RAC thread I thought Baz might be a Chiver.

I have been on both sides of a RAC because of the Chive.

When I was younger, I wasn't much of a crier. I cried some, but it was pretty rare. Later in life, I started crying more. I have no idea why or if there was a trigger. Maybe just something about being/getting older and changed thought processes. The first time I remember noticing was, I think, within a year of my dad dying, so I've wondered if that was somehow a trigger, but I don't really know. It may not be weekly, but it's certainly more frequent, and can be music, movie, hell, even TV shows (which bugs me, really? A TV show?)

I do think that my mood probably has an impact. There have been times when I was expecting it, but had nothing, and then other times when it hit and I was thinking "WTF?!?"

Some of those solders coming home for a surprise visit to their kid school or play often has me yelling stop cutting near me. I am like you, never cry when I was younger, just in the past 4-5 years, suddenly, I now have feelings for others. Dang it.

I can (and have) handled just about any amount of physical pain life could dish out with nary a whimper, but a good movie will get me misty (not waterfall drops, just misty).

One of my favorite all time movies. Never teared up at the ending though.

Quite a few years ago my Grandmother passed away on my Mother's side.

She had been living with my parents the last years of her life and then an assisted living place.

There was a memorial service in town here for her and I attended and volunteered to say a few words.

I chose to recite the 23rd Psalms.

I had a very hard time getting through it....stopping several times to fight through my tears.

That was totally unexpected and to this day it means a lot to me that she meant so much to me.

“To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think -- spend some time time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that's a heck of a day.”
