How would you paint this house differently?
This is a house across the street from one of my monthly accounts here.
I watched them painting it a couple months ago. I think the paint scheme is atrocious! I don't have a problem with using greens and blues for a house color - I just think they way this one was done is way too chaotic or busy... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618156454.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618156454.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1618156454.JPG |
Well, you live where they sell more pastel house paint than anywhere on the planet. I wouldn’t want that across the street for me where I live, but down there it’s just another brightly painted house. I don’t think it’s done badly, apart from the hideous front door.
Frankly, I’d be tickled pink that someone was keeping up on his house maintenance. |
I wonder if they like it.
|
I mean it sorta vibes with the coastal FL theme but I agree it’s way too much. I think it would have been better with a white or cream main body and then using the blues for trim and accent. Also that front door is just fugly, it doesn’t match anything.

needs a moat
|
Needs a margarita machine, fish tacos, and some seating out front.
and a mariachi band |
Yellow rails and columns.
Ouch, I was kidding, didn't notice the front door is yellow. |
Reverse it. Paint the body white and use the blue as trim/accent.
Darker colors are your “heavier” colors. Same on a two tone car from the 50’s, paint the body light colored and add your blues, corals, etc on the lower area of the body |
Wow, certainly not my taste. I could probably be OK with the primary house color for down there, but the darker blue trim doesn't, IMHO, "go" with the primary house color. And the door, highlighter/flourescent yellow, wow! That's really, IMO, a poor choice.
Certainly, there's got to be a thing from the paint company that's got suggested trim colors to go with the main color. Or at the very least, maybe complementary colors (I guess most folks don't know about them). |

Taste is such a fluid thing: That house color, to me, is a few shades short of acceptable, but the grounds look good and there is not a patina'ed truck in the driveway. |
Blue-gray on the body.
|
Wow I'm speechless. Up here in the north east we would think the circus came to town if that showed up. But on the flip side you can go not far into Vermont and find yurts on "industrial hemp farms" so to each his own.

I guess some of you guys have never seen South Beach.
|
Pink is another option...
|
bus station men's room green. needs a touch of urinal puck pink.
|
Williamsport blue with white trim.
Drop the mike.... |
Too dark, more pastel-ish/lighter and it would maybe be OK.
However, since it is in a HOA I'd say whatever would cause the most fits to be had - Something reminiscent of Janis Joplin's 356 or Lennon's Rolls.... |
Swap the blue contrast for the yellow on the door.
Much paler version of the main color where the white is. Or for a real bold statement go all yellow instead of the darker blue and white. |
They almost got it right. A friend painted his beachside home green. Similar to that, but not the same. And got it right.
|
viper green
|
While that is really bright, I DO like the wild color aesthetics one finds in FL.
|
Yeah, it highlights the profile for the police sniper as to a better sight picture.

It would be acceptable if they painted the door white.
But I agree, paint the body white and the doors the medium blue and the trim dark. |
Paint it white or paint it pale yellow ( like creamed corn) or a combination of both. Agree the colors are horrendous.
A pale pink would be nice also. |
It's Florida. Anything goes.

Those are accent colors. You don't paint a whole house with them. Sure, I appreciate the coral and salmon hues, etc., that you find in Florida. That house is hideous.
How would I paint it. More boring. White or another light color, with accents. |

Hey Baz, $10 dares you to print that pic and put it in their mailbox! :) |
We need an HOA!!
|
I do not find it to be that bad. It is Florida. The front door however, is terrible.

There's a Barney purple house in my neighborhood. It was formerly owned by a young female TV/movie star, and now is owned by a TikTokker. My daughter tells me the TikTokker isn't even old enough to drive, so she's doing something right.

I like it. Lose the red flag that causes retinal prolapse and it wouldn’t be so bad. I bet Florida man lives there. But seriously, if I had to live in a neighborhood I’d live in that one. |
The mailbox doesn't suit it
