What kind of tree is this?
We're trying to identify the various trees in our yard. We've got a bunch of pecan trees, a live oak, and I think I've identified one of the other trees as a Bur Oak, but I'm not sure what this thing is.

Based on what I see and the pics online, I think that's an excellent suggestion! Thank you.

I also found a site that says that there are a few species of hackberry that are native to Texas.

Apparently, "Northern Hackberry" has serrated leaves, but "Sugar Hackberry" has smooth leaves, and ours have smooth leave edges. So, I think, relative high identification certainty.

Properly seasoned, Hackberry wood burns really hot in the fireplace, to help you get through those South Texas winters.

Sadly, no fireplace or wood burning stove which seems weird for a home that was built in the early 1920s. There's a spot in the house that I think could have been a spot for a stove, but that's just a guess on my part.
