Built a Fence for my Sister

I built a fence for my sister last weekend. Just showing off my handy work. Transported all materials from Fresno to Sacramento - My little truck was overloaded but got-er-done. The same style fence I've built at my own house so I've got the method down (this is my 5th fence).

Truck Loaded:

Materials:

Tearing Down Old Rotted Fence:

Chopping up Old Fence:

Getting Started:

Finished Fence (40' Long): I'll do the longer fence next year.

A fence I built 15 years ago seems like it's time to be re-sealed but has held up very well over the years.

If only I had a Kabota. I brought my mini-hand held auger but had to dig all holes with a manual post hole digger due to the numerous roots. Plus, I had a gas line I had to be mindful of.

^^^ 15 years is excellent. I have a plain three board fence surrounding my 1.25 acre home.
Every 4-5 years...I'm painting.

Edit: I dug all the 12ft spaced holes with a manual post hole digger.

Well done.

Call Dig Alert next time they will come and tell you the location of pipes usually within 24 or 36 hours. Its a free service.

Fresno to Sac is jsut as far as LA to Fresno. That's a long drive Vern. You are a great brother. Fence looks great.Nice color.

I was lucky as the Gas line had already been marked with a PG&E flag + spray paint in the alley from previous work. Still, I hand dug that particular hole just to be sure.

Very nice work. I like the strong wood appearance. I just finished building a redwood fence attached to a new retaining wall. Fence building is fun, retaining wall tear out and rebuilding not so much.

I think what Steve is trying to say is, when are you planning a trip to NW Ohio and then Michigan?

Does she still get out, or is the fence strong enough to keep her in?
