Paint Correction RECOMMENDATION/ Brea, CA
Hey Fellas..................................
I'm looking for some help. Does anyone have a referral for a paint correction and ceramic coating that is reasonable? I'm located in the Brea, CA area and I need some help. This is for a Cadillac Escalade (its NOT bad at all, I just want to look into a preventative measure)

Have you checked your local car wash?
I've seen some guys in the 'hood doing neighbors cars but never really paid attention to them. I did ask one guy, who seemed to be doing it right, for his card. You might try him for an estimate. Krod's Smartwash - Kevin Rodriguez 323-804-9158 He lists ceramic coating on his card. Other than seeing him on a street here in the OC doing a car, that's all I got.

"define reasonable" great question........... I've poked around a bit and had sticker shock when told 5K for a paint correction and ceramic coating.... I'm quite sure they earn the $$ but GEEZ.
Yes...the bastard is HUGE. My childhood friends son (I used to hold the knucklehead in my arms) has a business doing exactly this but they are 600 miles away..... not do-able at this point...... soooo I'm poking around. Last edited by PRE-H20; 03-03-2021 at 01:43 PM.. |

Not in OC, but I know a Porsche storage up here with a full time mechanic (more air cool then wasser-pump-par) and a full time detail guy on site. I think he rents storage space to none p car people now. I know he does great work, but not sure about if pricing is affordable? Hope it helps.

high speed polish, or random orbital polish with heavy enough cut to remove surface scratches & etchings, or level orange peel.

3rd gear Ted !
Holy Moly thank you! I've been having a brain fart, I KNOW COOPER! I've been to his place, I cant believe he didn't come to mind. Maybe because I associate him with the 911.... not a daily driver SUV. We have been trying to get something set up for the 911. Gonna reach out to Cooper..... this thread is closed! |

Good luck.
For future reference.... There is a highly experienced and accomplished professional up here in Norcal that is kind of one of "us." I am sure he travels, though I am not sure whether he is doing that now during the pandemic. His name is Scott. I have known him for 20+ years. About 10 years or so ago, Scott and I installed the suspension components in his 993 in my garage (he lives nearby). He is a Porsche man through and through. Close childhood friends with the owner of the now closed business Partsheaven. He worked there part time. Career change from tech to detailing some years back. Part of a team that detailed Air Force One. Many other accomplishments. Likely Pebble Beach/Car Week each year engaged to work on the best of the best. Here is his web site: https://www.detailinnovations.com/ Accomplished, experienced, expert and meticulous.

Mahler9th,
Looks great, thanks for the recommendation. I'm sure Scott is worth it 100%. It looks like he does great work. BUT..... I just had a brain fart when thinking i needed to find a strong detailing option. With Cooper its more than just the cars that he preps for Pebble Beach, its him. Gracious, thorough, patient, flexible and a pro through and through. I'm all set. Come on..... Friday !!!!!! |

Spa day is underway! 😄
![]() Overall the Escalade isn’t too bad. Just needs a solid polishing. It does have the beginnings of clear coat failure showing along top surfaces on the left side. ![]() ![]() The hood and roof have been repainted already. GM vehicles in this era have clear coat issues on top surfaces. I’ll post some progress pics. as it comes along. For those interested I’m using a Rupes 21 machine and the Griot’s BOSS system of pads and polishes. While this job will take out most of the surface scratches it’s not a full blown “paint correction” as far as color sanding out orange peel or attempting to remove every defect. |

SOOOOOOO got back the finished product from Cooper.
As expected it turned out INCREDIBLE, exactly what I wanted. A great baseline to start and keep up the maintenance. Thank you Cooper! ![]() ![]() ![]() No more swirl marks of any kind... even in direct sunlight! WAAHOOOOO! |
