Nope, but I have skimmed through 2000-3000 emails looking for anything that might be important after a week off and then done a <ctrl-Q> on all of the unread crap which in outlook will mark anything selected as read.

Sounds like a lack of email discipline.
Who gets 3000 emails in one week???:eek::eek::eek:
Are you president of 24 countries, selling pills that cure cancer and male pattern baldness at once and giving out free money??
I’d put a filter on that inbox stat!!!SmileWavy

Ever heard of “out of office”?

Sounds like some of you need to browse to your mailprogram’s settings.
I’m guessing you could make the whole email experience a lot more efficient, workable and easier on the BP.

I go to great lengths to add some sarcasm to my out of office message. it is a great tool. it really reduced the volume of crap I got.

My 26 year career at Lockheed Martin started with me being a line laborer . I moved up the ranks and finished the last 10+ years in production control for the C130 and F35 . I was considered a " go to " guy and worked my butt off for all my customers . But I made it VERY clear to my boss/coworkers/customers that when I am off leave me alone ! No phone calls no emails .

I told every customer I will come see you in person as soon as I get back and deal with all issues . Same thing for my boss . First thing I did when getting back from vacation is turn off the out of office and then delete all emails . Folks learned pretty quick I wasn't kidding . But we also NEVER missed a contract milestone ! I am very proud of that . Too much time wasted on emails and meetings ......... let the ground pounders get the work done . I retired 3 years ago I do not miss the rat race.

Ah, the fun of aero. Depending on your system, my crew at CEF Ind. may have had you sweating C130 items. If so, sorry.

I always left a somewhat humorous out of office reply along with who to contact in my absence. Same with my voice mail. It certainly helped reduce the amount of clutter to sort thru. Now, my inbox and the queue at my door were a different matter. As a "go to" guy and F.O.G. (F'ing Old Guy) the first day back was always busy, full on rat race.

Sure enjoy not dealing with these worries any longer.

What I have done in the past is move all the vacation emails to a separate file and go through them 30 minutes at a time, with the Outlook filters: Start with my Boss (from) and work down the line.

That gets them binned and separated so I can work through them without looking at an email mountain.

I also filter incoming emails from folks I don't know, some folks I do know, etc.

Funny story.
I was leaving a very large printing company (Quebecor) and was preparing my out of office reply.
I thought I would write something funny. I think it was "I'm outa here".
Must have pushed the wrong button because it was sent to every employee. Like 5,000 people all the way to the CEO.
I was not laughing.
