Derek Chauvin guilty

Jury found the officer guilty of all three charges . I believe he will be in jail/prison for the rest of his life . Sad for everyone involved.

Neilk 04-20-2021 01:58 PM

Justice.

Sitting on a guy's neck for 9 minutes is not justified regardless of what happened prior to the arrest. Not sure why it is sad for everyone, Chauvin got what was coming.

WolfeMacleod 04-20-2021 02:00 PM

I hope that, when the judge read three GUILTY verdicts, Derek Chauvin was breathless.

flatbutt 04-20-2021 02:01 PM

That was FAST!!

EDIT: OH...and I told ya so.

EDIT EDIT; and Harris not content

How many more threads do you plan to post that in? At least change a few of the words, next time.

ckelly78z 04-20-2021 02:31 PM

He will be a welcome new friend to his prison mates !

rfuerst911sc 04-20-2021 02:32 PM

Sad for everyone involved , I said that because an officers career is gone , a man lost his life , friends and families on both sides have emotional scars for a lifetime . To me that is sad for all involved .

rusnak 04-20-2021 02:40 PM

Yeah, well Congresswoman Waters made sure there will be an appeal. And a good chance of an overturned verdict.

Joe Bob 04-20-2021 02:42 PM

Appeal, yes....granted maybe, confirmed conviction...NFW.

He was breathless in the back seat of the police cruiser

Joe Bob 04-20-2021 02:46 PM

He will be more than breathless when he hits the showers in Gen Pop.....if he survives.

That's not justice, that's being held accountable. He might experience some justice in prison. I'm not wishing it on him, but can see how it could happen.

cabmandone 04-20-2021 03:01 PM

It was the right call. What he did was wrong. As the OP said, sad for everyone involved.

rusnak 04-20-2021 03:02 PM

If you've ever experienced racism, then you know it does no good to make the kinds of comments that Rep Waters and even V.P. Harris are making. I like the words of GW Bush. He emphasized commonality, compassion, and concern for justice and the rule of law. And yes, I most definitely experienced racism first-hand. It does no good to drive a wedge into racial politics, nor to spike the football and dance around over a single gulity verdict. The take away is important, and it should be that we are a better people than this whole sorry episode.

You should tell us what justice would be then.

Baz 04-20-2021 03:14 PM

I was hoping for a "Not Guilty" verdict and then watching all the Democratic cities burn! :D

+1
Good chance he'll have to be isolated. Spending the rest of his life with bruises on his neck would be the least he could expect otherwise.

I am pro police , they have a job that puts their lives at risk on a daily basis . I wouldn't want their jobs . Having said that they chose the profession and were/are trained on how to perform the job .

This was a good arrest gone bad , the victim passed a counterfeit bill at a store . That is illegal . But when several officers have the criminal subdued/handcuffed it's time to throw him/her in the back of the squad car and go to jail . I don't care what anyone says there is no reason to keep a person restrained for nine minutes with your knee pinning down their neck .

Police/fireman/doctors/nurses/teachers etc etc are a cross section of society , so that means there are some bad ones out there . Unfortunately to cull the herd sometimes people lose their lives .
