The cats dry

Kitty was sleeping on some towels in the dryer. My 3 year old, tried to pet her and she hissed at him . He slammed the door . The dryer was on .
Poor thing was in there for a good 2-3 minutes before my wife opened up the door . I didn't think she was going to make it , but 24 hours later, it seems as if she just might pull through . She is pretty beat up though .

When in junior high, we often took turns in a local laundromat dryer after school. It was a contest to see who could last the longest before kicking the door open....they get hot quick.
A dime would provide 20 minutes of entertainment.

I love animals almost as much as Baz. I've had a few cats over the years, and got rabies shots from trying to help a kitten that seemed sick and "told" me to leave it alone.

I probably shouldn't be laughing, but I am and can't stop.

I thought the home dryer has to be restarted after the door is closed.

mine does. I open the door mid-dry cycle, and it stops, I put/pull whatever, shut the door. it will not start up again, unless I push the button again.

that kid pushed the button!!

I love my cat. I wont get another cat, but this one is nice.

Yeah, weird about the dryer , my wife said , that is is not supposed to operate like that, but it has been for a long time now .
Cat looking better this morning. We gave her some milk , and tuna, figuring , if she is going to die, may as well enjoy a few good meals. She ate that all up , but she still is not moving a whole lot. She is older, and was already starting to look a bit ragged.
Now that things are starting to heal, we can see where all the blood came from . Part of her ear is tore up , her nose took a hit, and looks like she bit her tongue . On a positive note, ruined a load of towels , so I get some new car wash rags . Poor thing must have been frantic .
Now we are all scared, that we have a little Jeffrey Dahmer on our hands

I was wondering why you were talking about the cat making it. I figure most kitties in a load full of towels, even for 2-3 mins would be OK. You never mentioned blood.

Poor kitty. I'll bet the 3yo is persona non grata from here on out, even more so than before.

I guess at least the cat didn't get the 3 yo into the drier.

We had a cat climb inside our dryer and fall asleep. Wife throws the clothes in, slams the door and turns the dryer on......then noticed a big vibration and thumping noise coming from the dryer about 20 mins after starting it.
Anyway making a long story short, I could never get all the fur out of the lent trap.

I’ve got a cute example.
Not cats, and not a dryer - but read on....
I spent a few years working in a plant that makes incontinence products. They tend to be soft. These machines do produce scrap, and you need to do something with that scrap. In some cases, the products that are out of spec get collected and baled up and sent to a 3rd world country, where they are manually picked through and marketed (think much lower income....)

In any case - the process to get these products ready usually involves big boxes of products. A “Gaylord” is a great means for conveying these scrap product throughout the plant. Those Gaylord boxes usually also have lids to keep dust and contaminants out of the product - even if it’s a ‘seconds’ product.
A Gaylord is appx. The size of a shipping pallet, and is roughly 3’ tall.
We used temp workers to prep the product - which basically meant putting the Gaylord on a tipper that fed a baling machine.
If a guy doesn’t want to work real hard, and maybe wants to take a nap instead of doing his/her normal job activities - a Gaylord full of product is a great place to curl up and take a nap. Especially when they can pull the lid over the box to keep that nasty light out.

Wouldn’t it have been horrible if, instead of finding this guy sleeping - he would’ve ended up in the compactor? Again - these are absorbent products. Nobody would’ve been the wiser until that bale of product got opened for sorting in Timbuktu - and the locals found a mess!

Fortunately, we found the guy sleeping and exited him from the premises. I’m sure glad he didn’t find himself ‘compacted’.

Just thought it was another version of the story - but replace cat with a human.

I'm thinking the ball of cat probably took at least 5 minutes to reach room temperature.

As a young lad, I would catch Kitty Cat and put her in the dresser drawer.

It's bound to happen around here. Kitty sleeps on the chair in front of the dryer when momma leaves the house to garage door open in the morning. One day, I bet it jumps in.

You might want to look into that. The start button engages a centrifugal switch in the motor that energizes a set of start windings in the motor. If the start button or it's wiring are shorted together the centrifugal switch will open the circuit to the start windings once the motor spins up. In that case it's just a safety issue. But if the centrifugal switch itself is not opening the start windings could be running all the time. That could start a fire or at a minimum shorten the life of the motor.
