Thank you very much, or thank you so much?

I was taught to say thank you very much, but it seems people are saying thank you so much, with more frequency.

So which do you use?

Depends on why I am thanking someone, I use both but thank you very much most often.

Usually a "Thank you so much" is accompanied by a two handed hand shake that lingers too long.

And sometimes involves a " close talker " 😁

I use: Thank you so much.

But I have been known to say "You are a doll, thank you so much" especially if the person is on the ball and gets me something before I ask. But I think that is a southern thing

I follow Elvis's lead: "Thank you, Thank You very much". In a southern drawl...

I use "thank you so much" as a less formal version of "thank you very much" most of the time

Thank you - for regular gratitude.

Thank you very much - gratitude for something above and beyond regular.

Thank you so much - when the thing being grateful for affects me personally, or emotionally.

Thank you - for regular gratitude... or 15%

Thank you very much ... the full 20%

Thank you so much... 20%+

This. If they reply "no problem", and I could have done it myself, I say "Fuch U".

"Thank you so more" is more emphasized than "Thank you very much", which is more 'formal'.

I see that I am not the only one who is frustrated with the nonchalant "no problem" answer that seems to be the new "you're welcome."

"I am soo soo glad your service to me wasn't an issue. I hope it didn't inconvenience you too much. I know it must have taken you away from your important IG post, but you took the time to server me instead. By the way, it is "NO PROBLEM" for me to also give you a nonchalant tip. Have a blessed day."

SMH.
