Ha! That's for sure, Baz. My Bullies are 1-1 with Vandy in the weekend series, maybe we can take the 2nd one from them tomorrow.

BTW Matt.....only the best Harbor Freight metal brushes and solvents for my teeth, and ole Pete, he's from PA and only been in Mississippi about the last 20 years. I told him a few years ago to check the latest issue of Southern Living Magazine, and that on the inside back cover they had a "Southern Immigration" form he could fill out and I'd be his sponsor.....

Ha! Since my parents and a brother are Vandy grads, I get to root (pun intended) for the 'Dores too. I hear both teams are very good. MSU, thunder and lightning, Palmeiro and Clark, good times. I hope it's a good game today. The SEC is amazing.

BAZ - get it fixed. Life is too short to be dealing with half broken teeth in your mouth.

Due to a quack dentist when I was younger, I now have 3 implants in my mouth. The first one sucked and cost a fortune and took tons of time. 2 different dentists.

Then I found the one I am using now, everything done in one place latest tech etc..

He 3D mapped my mouth and made the crown while I was in the office. One crown has a root canal under it with a post the other is just a post with a crown both printed in the office while I sat int he chair, 2 hours in and out.

Yes, about 4K per tooth is about what I paid as well. I can chew and eat normal.

Get it done.

Just remember, that tooth is just a inch or so from your brain. An infection can be bad pookie.

I can attest to that sitting here with no shoulder after having the replacement removed due to staph (MSSA) infection. All I did was have a filling replaced and no antibiotics given. So, at this point, if you believe in hospital bills on the surface, I have a $350,000 tooth.

Got the extraction done today. It went well, so charged the lower end of price schedule - $180.

They wouldn't let me take the tooth with me so I took some pics. ;)

The filling came out about 3 weeks ago, which is why the middle of the tooth is missing.

Now dealing with some ache so took 800mg Ibuprofen.

Gauze comes out in 1 hour - can't wait!

Remember, no smoking, drinking through a straw, booze, or heavy exertion for at least a week.

Congrats. . . you are in your way to recovery

Thanks - hopefully it'll heal up properly!

I am about 6 months in with a new implant system. I didn't think it would make a difference, but I has. Covid forced me into having the missing tooth longer than I expected, then I lived with just the screw for longer as well. I got used to eating off the other side, but I would experience some soreness as the teeth adjacent to the void got worked over. the day after the fake tooth went in, all minor soreness went away. I still favor chewing on the real side, but I am readjusting.

I have mastered flossing around the post. there is a giant space underneath that can hide lots of food. I scrub it clean with floss and blast it with the Waterpik. I am not losing another.

nice job BAZ/ no smoking. I don't know what a dry socket is..but apparently you don't want one.

i had a top molar pulled after and intoxicated (really) dentist botched a root canal job. he has since lost his license and my teeth are ok

if anyone comments on your gap, just tell them you broke it on a piece of coral surfing Pipeline

fyi- i recently was eating some clams casino and bit into a piece of shell. i cracked both opposing teeth. both were repaired with crowns ....i wonder why yours couldn’t be.

I already had a "story" lined up. Same one I use when referring to the keyed scratch the length of my 356 on passenger side - jealous lover. :D

But I like yours better on the missing tooth! Wouldn't quite work with the car, I guess. ;)

I asked my dentist if the tooth could be saved and he said too much gum disease down below. Hey I tried!

Ha ha - sorry man. Thought it might be educational for some, but I see your point. :p

The whole drinking, smoking, exertion, straw thing is a bunch of horse hooey. Been there, did all of that.

Seriously. Two occasions, 4 wisdom at 21yrs, then 1 molar just months ago. Who doesn't get a milk shake from Whataburger on the way home? Then have a smoke, and enjoy the evening knocking back cold ones all doped up. It'll loosen you up, and make you want to organize the garage.

All true.

911 Rod 05-26-2021 05:56 AM

Going through it now.
Got teeth cleaned and I pointed out if I bit down just right on a seed or something I get a little pain in a bottom molar.
Come back and dentist grinds out a small crack and fills it.
Now it really hurts when I bite down.
Dentist grinds it all down and puts a cap on it.
Now it hurts wayyyy more!
Taking advil and not chewing on that side for 3 weeks to see if it heals itself.
Ya, next visit will be for a route canal.
Really sucks.

Sorry to hear this, Rod. Tooth pain sucks!

Don't forget there are a few products on the market that help numb the area of pain. I used them periodically while I was going through this.

Here's the most popular one but there are also generic versions - also with 20% benzocaine - which is the active ingredient that does the work for you:
