Oh Boy, Motion is going to like that, but it would put a dent in even his fun budget.

Once I had a 1986 FZ600. Air cooled 2 valve UJM of about 50 hp. Switched bikes on a morning ride with RG 500 riding buddy. Still recall the rush, front tire eager to leave terra firma. 16 inch front wheel made it a little nervous.
Cool ride...

Very cool find, but for that money I could have my friend's RGB500 production racer. Two strokes are starting to get some pretty crazy money!
An RG500 is still needed for my collection, though. Hope to find something in the next couple years before they get too crazy.

I don't know how a brand new, never started RG500 could have 9 km on it. Granted, sometimes Suzuki would fire up new bikes at the plant, put them on a set of rollers and run them through the gears to make sure they actually worked, but that's not going to put 9km on it.
Odd. Can't say I'd sell a bike as having zero mileage that has actual, recorded mileage on the damn gauge... JR |

Old friend of mine bought one from Canada back in the day. Over the years he has picked just about every important 2 stroke made. He also has acquired some great 4 strokes, but the 2 strokes are his passion.
He has a small local shop, and is also one of the best tuners there is. In his divorce he gave up the house to keep his bike collection. He does like to ride them on occasion though.

Nahhh.... I have a RZ500. Its not really very quick. I also have a NSR250 SP that feels amazingly fast, even though it only has 60HP. Its a tiny, tiny bike (its a GP bike that Honda made street legal with a few parts) where the 500s are huge and heavy.

Bump the pilot jet up or down one size depending on temperature
That one little jet does amazing things for that engine Shave a little off the heads and sync the carbs for more amazement When I raced an rz500 I cursed those 500 Suzuki gama 500s though

I'm thinking the gamma was around 85hp. Had a 120/18 rear tire! But it weighed a lot less than 600s.
Of course people mod these to the moon. ![]() I remember thinking the cassette transmission was the coolest. Change gears without splitting case. They were somewhat seizure prone in the wrong hands but if I get a whiff of castor oil and race gas I find myself looking at 2 smokes for sale.

That RZ looks pretty good. I was between the RZ and FZ and would've chose the RZ but they didn't have the KR model. That and the FZ was a lot less due to tip over in showroom.

Got LOTS of use out if it. It was my touring bike, my commuting bike and 3 seasons of combined sprint races and 6 hour WERA endurance races before the crank finally let go and I got tired of two strokes...for a while

Funny story about this gamma on the front row. I was on the green and black GSXR. Years later at a client site I got talking to another old guy. He said he used to race.
I pulled up this picture of me on my lap top and he said, oh thats me on the 500. Now he finally has the only picture he has ever had of his racing career ![]()

I got the RZ but years later I went back and got the FJ and toured cross country and stopped at Mosport for lapping along the way. I guess I used to like red and white ![]()

I always thought it shame that the RZ500 engine didn't end up in an FZR400 chassis.
The Rz500 engine with very little tuning was a pretty exciting engine, but the original chassis was too much of a street bike. Meanwhile the lighter and more nimble RG500 Gamma seemed fragile in comparison with cracked frames, blown transmissions and seized engines, (although I thing the engine issues were more due to tuning errors).
