the thought crossed my mind - Toyota Prius

I took a month off of work. and I drove my Tacoma EVERYWHERE. dragging my kayak to various lakes. the average drive was 2 hours long. I was burning gas by the tankful. I would literally, go top of my tank, go home and load my kayak and back it into my house so it cant be stolen and go to sleep.

the fuel spent was not cool. i'd estimate 170+ gallons of fuel burnt, just for fishing. and if i knew i was going over the grade to get to Clearlake, I used 91 octane to minimize the pinging i sometimes hear.

I thought about a Prius with a roof rack. I would have used 60 gallons.

man, I used to be so cool. now a Prius? the new ones looks so weird.

those guys pulling bassboats where I go. the gas money must be staggering. bassboats do not sip fuel at all.

Think how much fuel you're saving with a kayak instead of a bass boat!
You might also consider a Volt. Used ones are priced pretty reasonably.

I am going to be honest with all of you . I would totally drive a Prius . I am su pposed to hate them, I want to hate them , but they are absolutely the best at what they do .
They are not that bad to drive, and basically dead nuts reliable , returning killer economy .
I have a few of them in my rotation that I service, and they are honestly not that bad.
Shoot me, but Id do a prius before I did a Kia , or some cheapo shoebox
If I was traveling any real distance on a regular basis, with fuel prices the way the are, and probably headed, I would do one . It is a #2 phillips screwdriver, for a #2 phillips screw .
Id get a co exist, and save the whales bumper sticker just for the halibut .
I aint handnin in my man card either .

I think you lose about 50 driving IQ points when you get a Prius. The average Prius driver has absolutely zero situational awareness or common sense.

Death before Prius! Tell me, did having your balls removed at the politically correct clinic hurt?

There are 2 types of cars: Interesting and appliance.

I have no problem driving an appliance car for general commuting. Prius is very compelling as an appliance sedan. No offence I know people love Tacoma's but I cant see it being any more fun or more interesting than a Prius.

Stated more eloquently: sure why not save some $$

You need to move closer to where the lakes are.

Lots of really practical (i.e. low insurance cost, low maintenance, and good fuel economy) will work for you.

Accord, Civic, Corolla. Even a Prius....

I have never drawn any correlation between my manliness and some car..not as an adult. I know it isn't a late model...say Mustang - you know, something considered extra manly by some.

I have a friend that hunts out of his prius. sleeps in the back, ammo, guns, dead animals in the back. he would hike most of us into the dirt. he does 25 miles days.

a Prius would be the best ammo smuggling vehicle coming back from tex to CA. hahah..

I have a friend who used to drive a New Beetle.

"But it's a turbo!" he would protest.

We still made fun of him.

I offset the mileage I get in my Land Cruiser by riding one of my motorcycles as often as I can.
