People Are Jerks

This morning Amazon delivered my wife's 'hair care' order to my neighbor by mistake. No big deal, right?

The neighbor comes over later and says 'Hey, I got your package, but my daughter liked it, so she washed her hair with it. We 're going to keep it, how much do I owe you?'.

WtF is wrong with people? Okay, I open Amazon packages all the time, I don't look for my name on it. But I know if I didn't order it belongs to someone else...I would take it next door and say 'Hey, sorry I opened this I didn't realize it was for you. I wouldn't f'ing use it.

What do you even say?? The product is out of stock now and we can't replace it!!!!

People are jerks. I'm gonna paint the fence with baby poo. Not paint. Real poo.

I don't understand people like that, I simply cannot.

Habit or whatever, but I always check to see if the mail is mine. If a neighbor's, I bring it to them. If WAY off (rare), I put it back in the mailbox.

no way!!!????

$219.78...say that! (unless it was more - you get the point)

I got a package once that had my address, but just the numbers. the street was something entirely different. I had to google map and drive to get it to the right place.

My wife is too nice. 'It was an honest mistake, just forget about it'.

Was it?? I say no...but life is too short to worry about missing shampoo, or conditioner, or whatever the eff it was...

wow, that's really farked up. I just don't even know what to say to that.

Out of curiosity, how old is the daughter? Teen? If so, they are often wankers, and that explains a lot. Or maybe the whole family is a bunch of wankers, which has a pretty high probability.

My coworker came over to me this early afternoon and said she had to leave work early. Then the tears started. Her bank account got hacked and she needs to assess the damage; thousands of dollars are gone though. New engineer out of school with student debt. ...

Tell Amazon to deliver you a new one, as the old one got delivered to the neighbor and the neighbor used it.

There were no markings or paperwork so I figured maybe it was for the next-door neighbor, as I only have one direct neighbor. that's a good thing.

So I took the bag over there and rang their door bell and waited. I heard someone behind the door but they didn't answer. I waited and then rang again, still no answer.
I went home and left the bag on the porch thinking maybe the dumazz driver would realize his mistake.
After about a half hour it was time for bed and I didn't want to leave the food out there all night for the racoons to make a mess, so I took it inside and carefully put it in the fridge. Note that my wife was already asleep when all this was happening.

At 5:30 am when I got to work I sent my wife an e-mail with all the details and asked her to contact the neighbor and see if it was theirs.
The reply? Yes it was theirs and they acted a little annoyed as if I did something wrong.

I asked why they didn't answer the door when they knew I was there with the food too see if it was theirs?
"We always wait for a half hour before opening the door to make sure all the covid is gone". I sheet you not.
ROFLMAO!! Thanks for that!

Not in my world. My daughter would be right by my side, with the hair stuff, asking how she can make it right...apologizing for her mistake, giving the product back and then how can she work off the entire purchase price.

If not, then it is a family of wankers.

Responsibility used to be the cornerstone of a family.

True, but then I think we all know that you and your family aren't "average."

You have a dog?
Start tossing poo over the fence.
Won't help, but might make you feel better.
People are jerks.

We had a really stupid driver for UPS for a while. He was constantly delivering my stuff one block away. Same number for the address, totally different street name. The are nice folks and took a the dog for a walk, and brought me my stuff. I have received their packages. After the third time we exchanged phone numbers.

I guess they fired that idiot driver because we have been getting the packages delivered properly for the most part.

One time that same driver delivered a package to my my door that was for a business, several miles away, with a different zip code and totally different address. It was a total mystery. I called the business, a tire shop I have been to, and told them the UPS driver brought me a package and I was home. They asked if I could bring it over, and I said I am a nice guy, but not that nice. So they had to to have their manager come pick it up. I was a nice enough guy to call them and tell them. I could have thrown it in the trash.

We are as average as a .250 hitting shortstop, have always been so: If we are now an anomaly the problem is more manifest than I realize.

Children want parents, not parent friends. I know you know, but the neighbor of the OP never got the memo.

We're lucky, we're one of the few people on our street that isn't named 'Smith' so I think all the delivery drivers have learned where we live.

This. My parents would never let me open a package addressed to another house. It clearly is not theirs, yet they opened and used it?

For sure, tell Amazon it was not delivered to you, and that is 100% true. Amazon will refund the price and eat the cost. Put it in your wish list for when it is available again.
