It's just simple plastic fittings and crap. You can do it, no pressure ! Just make sure no one uses the toilet :)
Looks like one might have already been replaced with the Y as circled in green. Quote:

I had my eyes open, but there doesn't seem to be anything living under the house (which is great, IMO).

In the daytime, look for the webs. |

Yes, I was down there with a flash/headlight in the last 30 mins before sunset. It wasn't pitch black, but it was pretty dark. I've actually been very surprised that I've seen very few spiders since we've moved in. I've only recently seen a couple of small ones outside the house. I haven't seen any inside the garage which seems like it'd be prime territory for spiders, and I haven't seen any under the house or inside the house. I'm sure it's only a matter of time. And, apparently, there are tarantulas in the area. I haven't seen any, but some folks from the neighboring county have posted photos on facebook of tarantulas that they've run across. If I was under the house and ran into a tarantula, I don't think it would go well for either of us. |
My brother and his son were doing some rearranging out in the shops and ran across this guy hiding under some siding he had stored between the shop buildings.
Let's hope you don't run into any of them under the house.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1620240820.jpg |
There are some jobs that I just won't DIY. Crawling under a house with bugs and snakes and whatnot is where I turn to my superpower to solve the problem.

I also want to swap out the lid or lids on my septic tank. The one on the first tank has been hit by the mower, and is broken. I managed to get the lid off (not that hard) and then back on (huge PITA) yesterday. I'd either like something that's not cement, or something cement with handles, preferably handles that drop down when not in use. What I found especially crazy when searching the 'Net for photos of septic tanks was how many had square access holes and lids. It seems insane to have anything other than a round hole/lid, at least, if it's concrete. |

We get our share of critters at the country place in Milam County.

Apparently, those are not far from here either. I don't know if they have them right here, but there are folks that aren't that far away that say they have them. |
Cut and angle it up with "y" connections?

I am about as cheap as they come.
No way I am crawling under a house to mess with poop pipe. You have to excavate around the joints, then cut the pipe, then fab and glue the new pipe. I'm with Patrick; american express time! |
Looks like you have 3 ft of crawl space ... go for it !

It's doable, but not terribly pleasant. |
Rake it smooth and put down some big cardboard.
Even though there is an airspace, might even consider some plastic to keep ground moisture from traveling upwards. |
I'm wondering what, if anything, I could or should (or shouldn't) do to insulate the bottom of the house.

Unless the red one on the left is a wet vent. It will work and meet code since there is a clean out in line with the waste line. Would it have been better with an "L"? Sure. |

The 90 on the left is fine, but not the Wye it discharges into.
Replace 90 with 45 and replace Wye with long sweep Wye. Then replace right Wye with long sweep Wye. Not difficult but still. |
Are those 6" pipes? In a house?
|
Quote:
If I said 6" before, that's my mistake. I don't have tons of PVC experience and always forget that it's ID, not OD, and then estimating size from 10-15' away in the dark is not my strong suit. |

Looks like 4 to me. Can't believe we're on page 4 on a subject about poop pipes.
|
Just remember, sh.t don't flow uphill and the liquid can't outrun the solids or the pipes get plugged with poo.
|
...and hots on the left, colds on the right.
|
I would bet its a 3" line.
|
How much are we betting?
Only reason I think it's 4 is the 2" coming into the back side of that Y in the pic above that then hits the 90 and goes to the pipe in the ground. Looks like 4 to me. |
At least the pipes I have been dealing with at the "country" place are out in the open when you dig out around them to expose them. Here I was adding a run to another building and taping into the main where it comes out from under the slab. Had to dig very carefully as there are all the other utilities buried there too. Fresh water, propane, power, telephone and TV coax going to another building. I stuck a long sweep elbow in the existing pipe to tap into. Also added clean outs on both the black water and gray water lines for good measure while I had everything exposed.

Crawl under and measure it before this escalates !

We gotta make sure Steve doesn't bet though and keep him from being influenced by BK because Steve said he thinks it's a 3".
