Leather Dye - Changing Chair Color

Has anyone successfully changed leather color? I have a nice leather chair, but the leather is orange, I want to go to dark brown or black.

No pleats, no wrinkles, just smooth arm covers, seat cushion, and back, with piping.

I use it daily, so I want a good durable finish. Is it possible? Or should I recover it in black leather?

Leatherique is the one?

I recently dyed my motorhome leather seats with a product called Rub-n-Restore. They claim you can change color with their product. They have videos showing the process.

A few years ago I re dyed the interior of my car's leather interior.

Most has held up okay, but high wear areas have peeled off somewhat, exposing the original color.

Also, the leather dye did not hold up well to regular cleaning. My steering wheel didn't work well at all, but, it also got the most daily wear, with my dirty paws, as well as cleaners on it.

I'm redoing my interior again soon. I would like to see how Tim's seat holds up too, to see if he has a better dye than what I have.

I would give my experience a c+ b- grade. I would price out a recover just to find out on your chair.

Tim and his work was my first thought when I saw this thread.

Let's see the back of Tim's legs after a hot sweaty drive this summer...

Still need to get the dash AC evacuated and then refilled with 4 lbs of 134 and some oil. If that doesn't cut it, I will fire up the genny and the two roof top AC units.

The dye seems like it will not peel like paint and will not rub off, but I guess we will find out this summer.

I changed from grey to black using leatherique products. Was fairly easy. Lots of scrubbing though.
See the "Gretchen" thread in the technical forum if interested.

Might take more than that. I believe I put close to 7 1/2 lbs in my brothers 45f Monaco Dynasty IV. It's a long trip the high and low side lines make to the front and back.
