something unexpected about kayak fishing. i'm not a loner

I solo fish a lot. it isn't safer for sure. there is something huge and intangible about the "buddy-system". but aside from safety, I truly enjoy fishing with a friend.

something about standing up and hoisting the bass for the buddy to see..or (in a way better) fist pumping the sky when the buddy catches a good one.

as we get older, people with kids, jobs, lives, crazy ass schedules...the timing of making it a team sport just doesn't happen that often.

the house across the street is a rental. empty for a bit. I told my wife. "I hope a family moves in, and they unload a fishing kayak" the new renter moved in, and get this. she is a hot single lady. rocks a pair of bluejeans and can make a flatbill cap look GOOD. but damnit..no fishing kayak!!

I might join a kayak fishing club to meet more people.

I don't kayak, I use a belly boat damn near every week from spring to fall. So I am in a "similar boat" as you. I have two friends with belly boats that I can count on about a quarter of the time.

I go in upwind and let the wind do most of the work. Really slow so I can really pound the shoreline. If I am alone I have to walk back. With a buddy we park vehicles at both ends. I have about a dozen small lakes on the Wildlife Refuge that I fish the most. I'll see bison, longhorn, elk, and deer nearly every trip.

I am now nearly 100% fly fishing.

I fish by myself 95% of the time and I have a 19 foot bass boat.
We need pics of the blue jeans.

Sounds to me you should offer to do some lifting if needed. I sold my kayak (siince we moved pretty far inland) some years ago. We don't have any places around here for fishing, and my favorite was to take it to the coast and do some surfing with it.

I hear ya on needing a fishing buddy. If you make it back to AZ, we can take my 12’ boat out and slam some fish!

When you go over there and ask her if she likes fishing, make the hand motions like you're casting a rod and reel, like "fishing".

That way she won't think you're asking her about fisting.
