Find a dealer that has an induction cook top that is wired in and go and try it, good control over temperature and quick for temp adjustment, all the pots need to be magnetic on the bottom surface, many are. We had gas top before but I prefer the Induction.

Without a natural gas line to my house I would go electric.

The hassle factor is too high versus the 'gain' of a gas cooktop.

We have natural gas at our house. Gas furnace, and water heater and cooktop with 5 burners. The oven is electric, and that allows for a self cleaning oven.

The oven is on a different wall, below the microwave, and away form the cooktop so it is easy to have both going at once and not interfere with one another.

GE makes self clean gas ranges. I had ne installed when I lived in San Diego
