Refurbished iPhone?

Anybody buy refurbished phones?

My iPhone7 is screwed up, I have no interest in paying $1000+ for the latest bells and whistles. I think it may be a software issue, but the battery life is short anyway.

Refurbished 8 on Amazon, 90 day warranty, for $200ish.

Temporarily switched to an iPhone5 we had laying around.

keep checking the clearance and refurbished section at Apple's website. 1 year warranty (same as a new phone) and looks like it has never been used. Inventory varies greatly from time to time.

I bought from this site when I was looking for a 6S Max (which I subsequently dropped and broke #$%@&*!)
Time to get a new phone, this time I decided on the 11Pro
Repeat customer, I'm extremely happy with the phones and the site, and I saved hundreds of dollars in phone upgrades ...

I've purchased either clearance, closeout or refurbished electronics (computers and phones) before and always had good luck. If I'm going to purchase a refurb phone, I'll do it from someplace like Apple or a reputable seller. In the case of a phone, I'm a little concerned that a pre-owned phone will have some sort of hack that compromises the phone. Phones potentially see so much action, that I'm willing to pay a bit more to ensure that they are not compromised.

It's probably a small chance, but if you ever make purchases or perform banking or anything like that, I want to take fewer chances.

Just replaced a 5c with a refurbed 8 Plus, from Verizon, that was supposed to come with 64gb but instead came with 256gb. Works great but the size compared to the 5c will take some getting used to.

Looks like these guys give a one year warranty, decent pricing too.

I only buy refurb iPhones. Maybe 1 in 10 has issues, and I simply return them. Plenty of sellers on Amazon. I find that staying 2 generations behind the current iPhone works well. I would look at a XR now, instead of an 8.

Word.

I buy almost exclusively off Apples refurb section.

Have been for years and never had an issue.

Something like 80+% of manufacturer offered refurbs are nothing more than an open box return, as in the device was never used.

Only hassle is you need to check often and grab what you want when you see it as the inventory changes near real time based on stock status.

Batteries.

Biggest issue with refurb iPhones.

If they didn't replace the battery you probably won't be happy.

Get an iPhone 10. The best phone I ever owned. Referbs are fine. I do that for the Apple computers. No issues.

Why spend $500 or more for an iPhone...when you can get a smartphone Android for less than $200 and use Tracfone for your service??

Thanks guys. Refurb sounds like a viable option.

Steve, what $200 Android would you recommend?

^^^ I think I paid $129 for my Motorola G7 last year from Tracfone. Looking now, I see that it's on sale for $99...prob because of newer model replacements.
It works perfect, internet is always available, easy to use. Tracfone package costs me $25 for 3 months and auto refills.
If I use data over normal...additional GB are $10

I never find a place where Tracfone doesn't work....they use all cell services.

You can use any unlocked smartphone with their service....4G or 5G
