Talking This guy rigged his van door with 1000V to stop tool thieves

This Electrician from Wolverhampton rigged his van with 1000v to stop tools thieves.

Previously he has had over £5000 worth of tools stolen so he took things into his own hands!

Go to the YT site and checkout some of the comments. They are great!

I like this one:

"A tradesman I know taped Stanley knife blades under the door handles of his van . Good for collecting DNA."

When that set-up malfunctions, things go sideways in a hurry.

Law enforcement visited and nothing came of it.

When you listen to the man (in the first video) share how many times his work van was broken into - and his tools stolen - and especially his tool bag - you can easily understand his frustration.

For me - I love the fact that he decided to take action - and not the crazy kind when someone grabs a gun and shoots a bunch of people.

He came up with an anti-theft system. Out of desperation.

As someone who has also lost many valuables to thieves.....he gets not only my admiration. He's gets my respect!

Maybe someone can design and market a similar device for protecting catalytic converters.

Thanks Baz. That video reminded me of the van scene from The Jackal 1997.

Maybe a can of bear spray that releases its contents when the cc is tampered with. Or an irritant powder bomb - with a nice, loud flash-bang for effect.

Saw the movie, Peter but can't remember that scene. Will look for it, thanks.

I do remember the '73 "Day of the Jackal" - which was excellent!

When we were first doing our rentals, We got hit twice. First time , it was just vandals, they took 2 5 gallon buckets of paint, and threw it all over the walls, and floors, spray painted gang graffiti all over the place, and broke some windows, and the basement door frame.
A few months later, they hit us again, and stole a lot of copper pipe, left a growler in the commode , and stole a bunch of tools . They came through a first floor window . It was personal at that point .
There were really only 2 ways into this house, you either broke in the basement door, or there were 2 first floor windows that were vulnerable. I started putting nails up through strips of plywood, and leaving it right under the two windows, and in front of the back door .
Never got one, but always dreamed about the poor bastard crying out in pain, as the nail pierced his foot climbing through my window in the middle of the night .
One of the first things we would do , when getting a house back between tenants, was always to board up everything really tight, nail shut first floor windows, doors, any way they could possibly come in.
It is a shame that this is the world we live in
Not much I hate more than thieves

Agree.

People who get caught stealing should have their hands cut off.

Only thing worse than a thief is a freaking liar!

Twenty years ago a bank I worked for was robbed in Oxnard. Fools made off with about 6-8 packs of bait money. Police arrived just in time to find the guys in the parking lot. After the explosions stopped, the entire inside of the car, including the perps, were covered in blue dye & serialized $1.00 bills.

What? Who, us? No, haven't seen any bank robbers 'round here.

I think they work differently. I've had a few blasts off farm electric fences and they're not very pleasant Something like 5,000 to 10,000 volts and very low amperage. Not as bad as an electric dog collar, but enough to make you change your mind about whatever you're up to.

I can attest to that. We use electric fences for our horses. One day, shortly after we started using the stuff, I was setting up a new line. I had a strand of the new section in my right hand and was looking for the best attachment point to the existing fence. Like a darned fool, I grabbed the fence line and realized very quickly I had neglected to unplug the fencer (the energizer which changes 120 volts to 6000 volts at low amperage and pulses it through the lines). I got an immediate reminder.
Both arms tingled for about five minutes. I haven't done that again.

At least the horses respect it.
Best

just pointing out, 1000 volt is no big deal, with milliamps just get shocked..
