Anytime Fitness../.anybody ever cancel?

Sacred feces what a run around. I lost my original copy of the contract and they "no policy you can't cancel" WTF?

I raised a fuss they said OK but you have to pay a cancellation fee equal to 6 months dues! WTFF?

Anybody go thru this with them?

No experience but turn it on them to show you in writing where you owe 6mos cancellation fee.

Why don’t you replace the card your automatic payments are being charged to? Then when it pings your card on file, it will no longer be valid.

Try going to a different Anytime Fitness to cancel.

They will hit me with late fees. So I've been told.

Not permitted, the managers will refuse to do it.

Call your attorney generals office and ask for advice; sounds like a very shady business practice.

yes, former member. (wife actually joined and could not cancel so moved it over to me)

hmmm. Do something legal and non damaging that violates your membership.

I'd suggest you walk in eating a taco past the front desk, if they tell you to stop because that violates your membership conduct then pull out another taco and start walking on the treadmill. The other members in there will insist they get you to leave but they cannot because you are a member. They will likely end your membership immediately, provide you proof and you can go.

I like the go in violating your membership plan

They would have to show me where I signed a contract agreeing to the excessive termination fees.

After I was out, they would have some problems with their facilities.

Hmmm given that they charge a big cancellation fee that might could be a way to go.

I have been known to allow certain vapors to escape unhindered.

Take some Epsom salts. Wear really loose shorts commando. When you can feel the salts working, do some heavy squats. With the mess you'll leave, they'll never, ever want you back.

during peak covid lockdown, when they were closed we gave them through August, paying dues with no access. called the local owner made the case and and they paused the membership through the balance of the term which was October when we agreed in August we would not renew. went well and made the best of a bad situation. sunk $10k in building a home gym. miss chatting with the regulars but get a better work out at home now

My old gym was a "stand alone" and the membership was through ABC Finance or Fitness. When I quit they kept billing me. I told them I had called and canceled earlier but they insisted that the only way to cancel membership was 'in person".

I lied and said I had moved to another state and they told me tough, you need to fly back and cancel. Told them to 'eff off' and did what Sarc suggested, canceled the card that they were charging monthly. Got a call 2 months later from a collector, gave them the fck off speech again and never heard from them again.

This is pretty typical of the gym places from what I've heard. Buddy in HS went through the same thing with Bally Total Fitness chain.
"No cancellation". They demanded thousands and nailed his credit etc. A mess.
Once bitten..
It's easier to pay cash at the YMCA and go when you want to.

I've got some light free weights to warm up, stairs and floor and inflatable ball to stretch, and a back thumper and shower to mellow out. Plus there is this intensive exercise program called 'work'. The only home gym machine I've ever tried and really liked was the deluxe version of Total Gym. You can do lean muscle stretching and aerobic, or go intensive.

One of my former co-workers started at some gym. He decided for what ever reason to cancel his membership and like the other stories got the speech about fees and such. A buddy of his worked at a strip joint as a bartender. He paid some stripper a few bucks to go with him to workout. She was in clothes that were not really covering the part of anatomy the management wanted covered. They ended up throwing her out and he of course stood up for her and they threw him out and canceled his membership.

At least that is the story he told, I would lay 50-50 odds it was all BS.
