Don't speed in Arkansas.....

While doing sub light speed the POPO throws on the rollers. Preggers gal looks for an offramp on a two lane hiway w/o shoulders. While slowing down to the speed limit and whipping on the flashers.

Cop joensing for a donut does the PIT maneuver and flips her rig.

She gonna get a MINT....prolly get to move to Little Rock to Bubbas's hood.

A FOX16 investigation last month revealed that PIT maneuvers are increasingly being used by the Arkansas State Police. Between January 2017 and December 2020, PIT maneuvers were used 306 times, with half of those happening in 2020, according to the local news outlet.

At least 30 people have died and hundreds more have been injured since 2016 from PIT maneuvers, according to The Washington Post. Eighteen of those deaths occurred after police attempted to stop a person for speeding or another minor traffic violation.
Oh boy

rattlsnak 06-09-2021 10:58 PM

I dont think she will win.. She didnt pull over.. (not saying I agree with the PIT)

speeder 06-09-2021 11:28 PM

She deserves a lot of money, IMO. It says right in their state's drivers manual to turn on the flashers and proceed to a safe place to stop. She could have slowed down more but there is no excuse on earth for what the cop did. The result was extremely predictable and she was not driving in a way that endangered the public prior to the PIT maneuver.

Just inexplicable behavior on the part of the cop. She was not evading him. He had to "show her" because his ego could not accept that she did not pull over immediately. His judgement is so bad, I hope he loses his job. She could have been killed.

notice how the troopers are inspecting the bumper of the cruiser

at 7:16

he could have killed her for doing 14 over and they are looking at the smudge mark on the bumper

... and yet all she had to do was pull over.

stevej37 06-10-2021 02:25 AM

It didn't appear that she was trying to evade the cop.
I think she was trying to take the next exit and pulling over. (not a good decision)

Hardly a two lane highway without shoulders.

onewhippedpuppy 06-10-2021 02:49 AM

She could have easily pulled over, there were three lanes with a shoulder. Who knows what the real truth is for her not pulling over, but I suspect there’s more to the story. BUT, no excuse for that officer taking that action either. She was also obviously not trying to evade, not driving recklessly, and not putting the public at risk. They were also in a minimal traffic situation, and the “chase” was only ongoing for a couple of minutes. Pretty sure he didn’t meet any of the criteria for performing a PIT. So I think this is a story of two idiots meeting and something stupid happening.

This.

764 yum yum zebra? Surely this cop isn't just making up his own phonetic alphabet?

The lady could have pulled over, but damn, pit maneuver for speeding on a minivan, and in between 2 rows of jersey barricades, to me that was a high probability bigger issues.

Come on guys, how is he ever going to get the PIT maneuver down if he doesn't practice.

Unfortunately, when some folks see the flashy lights and hear the siren, they freak out and don't know what to do.

Wow, so she was speeding, he lit her up, and then after he wrecked her car while she was presumably suspended upside down by her seat belt, he started lecturing her on "why didn't you stop." "I didn't feel like it was safe" "Well, now here you are."

Either this guy is a twat or if it's a policy that this was acceptible practice for him, then the folks that made the policy are twats.

And I like and support cops. Normally, my first reaction would be to defend their actions, but damn. This seems crazy.

GH85Carrera 06-10-2021 05:15 AM

Yea, a PIT maneuver is OK after a long chase and dangerous driving, not in this situation. He was in the red mist and had to show his authority. He needs to loose his CLEAT certification, and go be a mall cop or security guard.

She did exactly what the drivers handbook specifies to do in that situation since she could not pull completely out of a driving lane because of the narrow shoulder.

https://static.ark.org/eeuploads/asp/ARKANSAS_DRIVER_LICENSE_manual_revision_(Corrected ).pdf

ARKANSAS STATE POLICEWHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE STOPPED BY ALAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERThe steps outlined below provide drivers with basic information of what to do when stopped by a law enforcement officer or when passing a law enforcement officer stopped alongside aroadwayto ensure the officer’s safety, the safety of the driver and any passengers.

1.Pull over to the right side of the road –activate your turn signal or emergency flashers to indicate to the officer that you are seeking a safe place to stop.

2.If you are unsure if you are being stopped by an actual police officer, activate your turn signal or emergency flashers and pull to the nearest well-lit location, or dial 9-1-1 and request confirmation that an actual police officer is attempting to stop you.

3.Pull to the nearest/safest spot out of the traffic lane (Do not stop on bridges or overpasses).

flipper35 06-10-2021 07:20 AM

From another story:

There really wasn’t much of a shoulder to speak of for her to pull over on; she’s all the way over and still half-way into the right lane. For her own and the officer’s safety, it makes no sense to stop sticking half way out into a lane. Dunn’s own squad car doesn’t make it completely on to the shoulder on this stretch of highway.

She literally did exactly what the state tells drivers to do. She is going to "win" when the city or state patrol or whoever settles out of court. Unfortunately the trooper will pay no personal price at all for this and will probably keep swinging his dick around. I'm pretty far from a libertarian but I think the 'Reason' article on this had it right.

Arkansas has a driver's manual??

Baz 06-10-2021 01:58 PM

Should have slowed way down - maybe to 35-40mph tops. With right turn signal on.

60 mph with flashers on doesn't seem to indicate you are going to pull over somewhere.

I also think there was plenty of room to pull over and stop.

The pit manuever was a little over the top as well, given it was just a speeding violation.

Now - I realize that WE all look at things differently and in traffic/driving situations a lot of our opinion is based on our abilities and also how practical we look at things. I don't expect someone else to look at things the same way I do.

If I had it my way 5 minutes of every nightly news broadcast would be devoted to how to drive properly. But we all know that will never happen.

stealthn 06-10-2021 03:33 PM

WTF is wrong with these cops? They’ve killed people for minor traffic infractions or speeding…I think the AJ needs to have a look at this.

Yes! They can start with the dash cam of a guy running stop signs:D

She will win in court or remediation.
