Today was pretty great - dirt bike content

The Tuesday before last, I got the ‘all clear’ from my surgeon to return to all my activities after ACL and MCL reconstruction on January 20th.

I picked up my custom CTI brace on Thursday and decided today was going to be the day I jump back on my bike again.

This morning we couldn’t find a couple calves so I jumped on my bike instead of the quad to go looking… once we found them and determined they were ‘OK’, we decided instead of taking the boat to the lake (it’s windy anyway), we would go for our first ever family dirt bike ride. We rode the undeveloped road allowance for about an hour and a half.

Here are the kids when we went looking for the calves (note the pajamas instead of riding gear).

I have some other really great photos that are too large for PARF…

Anyway, I scouted our north 1/4 for a good place to build a track and found a bunch of natural features that make an awesome track with some pretty good jumps, hauled over a load of manure compost with my gravel truck and built a nice bermed corner… the kids now have a track. I did probably 50 laps and it’s great in both directions. The knee never gave any grief but will be sore tomorrow…

The day was great and meaningful for several reasons…

1. First day of doing the ‘normal’ stuff I didn’t think twice about doing before my crash.
2. First day of my daughter actually riding the motorcycle she has had for 2 years and ridden only twice, both times ending in a wipe out that scared her off.
3. It was fun to see my wife out riding on my son’s 4 stroke.
4. It was awesome to see my son out enjoying the KX65 he got for Christmas that he hasn’t really ridden much since I couldn’t ride with him. He has had his 4 stroke out a few times but but the KX65.

Anyway - it was an awesome day and not one I will soon forget.

Yay!!!

Glad about the knee. Even better about family fun.

I had either trout fishing or dirt biking on the calendar today. .75 inches of rain turned that into a honey do list day instead. (Frowny face)

The KX rips and he loves it. When I got home from work tonight, my daughter had her MX gear on and was waiting for me to take her to the track…

Awesome!

I told the wife the same thing if I won a farm the first thing I would do is build a track, go-carts, quads, Mx, mountain bike and cross country skiing.

You are living the dream my man!

My wife has decided to try the sport. Her first several tentative trips around she said she could feel it in her muscles.

That KX65 has quite a kick when it comes on the pipe. Bought one cheap for my wife grandson and put a piston in it.......When he outgrew it, I doubled my money and got him an old Honda XL250.....

You are creating memories they will have forever.....

Yeup! You get arm pump around a real track, and some gnarly trails. My first bike I raced back in the day was the real mans bike, the 500R, I had the last air cooled monster and it was a beast, wheelied in every gear. LOL! That 500r will rip a mans arms out of their sockets if he aint careful, LOL!
