Opel GT- wish I had the spare coin

I have always liked the look of these cars and this one looks clean . If I had the spare $$$ there would be no shame adding this to the garage . Just posting this for fun .

That is nice looking. There are a couple around here....but most have a lot of rust.

I always thought they were cool looking little cars. For $10k that looks like a fun little toy.

I had a 1973 Opel GT in college. It was my first "fun" car. I put a Weber carb on it, modified the exhaust, new shocks, etc. Fun car, but ultimately sort of crude and pedestrian.

Heck, looking at the ad closer, that car is only about 30 minutes from my house!! I should go buy it.

My neighbor was 3 years older and had one in hs.... Kermet the Frog green. I'd carry along a jar of French's in that one .... crude & pedestrian

I've always thought these would look cool with widened fenders, a more pronounced Kamm tail spoiler and a motor swap.

^^^ Maybe a BMW M four cylinder or a Honda S2000 engine 😊 , that would be sweet .

Interesting. That one looks decent. $10k doesn't seem that bad if it's as nice as it looks.

1.9L w/100hp in a car that weighs <2000# actually sounds like it would be fun, kind of miata-like, not hugely fast, but probably zippy.

Just get some baby jeans shorts and baby white New Balances and you'll have completed the classic baby 'vette owner look.

They look a lot 'cooler' than they drive.
I had a Ford Cortina at the time...it drove better than the Opel.

Yeah, this. ^^ A roommate back in the ‘80s had one in the garage, they are cute but that’s about it. A really basic economy car with a cool body.

They are cute little cars. I have always liked them myself (yup, I even owned an opel).
I know right where that is, basically. The 411 south out of Maryville passes the mall and other commercial business area. I looked at a house a little ways out of Maryville on a side road off 411.

It was spartan. Had a 69 1.9L.

It did not have horrible build quality like an AMX or Gremlin but it was far from a Porsche.

I suspect with a little digging you could find there was a lot of Kadett in it.

I kid you not

Everyday.

Opel GT's looked great but drove like a Vega.

The ad gave me a great idea! Just specify “no scammers” in the ad and the scammers will move on.

An ex- g-f had a metallic gold one.. (in France) The Opal 1.9 didn't seem as quick (also metallic gold , oddly) as my 914 w/ a 1.7, just sayin'...
Think, I also had high expectations, since I had been loving the Opel since I saw new ones when I was about 10 yrs old...
