Just changed oil and filters in my 2016 F150. Cabin filter was dirty but not as bad as when I first got the truck. Bought it in Arizona and the fine pink desert dust was caked on there.

Ugh. Thanks for reminding me of what I’m breathing in my truck with no cabin air filter. 🤣

I only get about 6 months out of the activated charcoal filters before the vent air starts smelling bad. Change the filter and it goes away immediately. Anyone else experience that?

I got $1000 off my bmw when I bought it because of the bad vent smell but I’m slowly paying it back lol.

Bought it in Tempe at Jones Motors. I think it was his brothers truck who drove a lot of backroads. Fine dust everywhere!

Heck that could just be dirt from it being driven in monsoon season. That fine dust gets on everything!

Finally changed mine out today. Quite a difference in air volume.

I checked mine a few days ago and it was loaded up with small bees, flies, and seeds from the trees.
Couldn't vacuum it all out...so I ordered a new one from Amazon with activated charcoal for $11
The plain ones were $18 from Advanced Auto.

How about this?

I kid you not - this was in a 2007 4Runner that we just bought. May very well have been original. Just did this a week ago or so.

Wow did you have any air flow through the dash vents ? That's a lot of build up the filter did its job.

I found out that if you don't clean the little drain just below the cabin air filter on a 2012 Mustang, the cabin air filter becomes a cabin water filter as the drain becomes clogged and the water flows thru the filter into the passenger floor board.

Biggest improvement is for the AC when you change an old filter that's plugged up with a new one

Thanks, I needed the laugh on a Mon morning!

Holy sheiße! I changed the filter in the Outback that the missus drives this weekend. It wasn't too bad. I went with a HEPA/charcoal filter.

Rfuerst-
Surprisingly, the system worked pretty well.

Whenever you buy a car and the PO says: “It always got everything it needed”, you have to evaluate what “need” truly is….

Overall, I think 4Runners are pretty well built and pretty solid vehicles.

Will know more after our Shock/Strut/CV Axle project coming up next weekend….
