Weird Place For A “Charley Horse”

You know, you are asleep and do an involuntary stretch and WHAM! a painful Charley Horse.

Well, yesterday morning I got one in my * neck *. The muscle down the left side of my neck, to be precise. Turning my head or holding it up when bent over or supine is painful. Going better, but man, is this what “ gittin old “ is? Really?

Ya can't have a "Charlie Horse" in yer neck .... at least around here... they are outside of the thigh only, and I had a few sucking at sports... from contact usually ... a tackle or a knee in b-ball, etc. .

A Charley Mule mebbe?

Cramps... sound asleep and a hammy cramp will just happen now .... wham .

Pickle juice DID not help....

We're an hour younger than we were yesterday tho' ... so there is that!

Enjoy the "Golden Years"!

Statin medications can make those appear, or be worse than before. And hydration helps, but that means getting up in the middle of the night to pee.

IDT this is uncommon in older folks. My wife suffers from neck "horses."

I wonder where that name "Charlie Horse" originated.

Direct from Wiki

A charley horse is a colloquial term typically used to refer to a muscle cramp or stiffness, particularly those of the calf, foot, leg, or more rarely, the arm. Some may use the term interchangeably with the term dead leg or thigh contusion, referring to a contusion caused by a physical blow to the leg or thigh.

The term came into use in the setting of baseball in the United States in the 1880s, though its exact origin is uncertain.
