what do you give the dog ?

last dog loved fireworks wanted to jump on/at them

current dog hates loud bangs makes a beeline to the house if she hears any bang or even a pop
the new cat is way worse really upset at thunder or fireworks

any cat safe meds ?

My Daisy freaks out when an ant farts on my patio.
She’s a Rhodesian Ridgeback/ Boxer mix and 89el bees. She was the runt of the litter of 10. Just super aloof of anything.

What’ll you give Hank? Was thinking of doing same.

We live a few miles as the crow flies from an amusement park. The have a big 4th of July fireworks show every year. We can hear the booms and thuds and our dogs grew up hearing it. Only one dog ever notices it at all, and he just wants to sit in momma's lap if he hears a big retort.

Luckily my foster dog is fine with fireworks and storms. Me on the other hand am getting sick of these dicks who set them off Sunday and week nights when I have to get up early. Not that it matters, but any of them that blow up and I think fly are illegal in MN.

Gets crazy around here on the 4th weekend, “swear” that some of these people stole explosives from the Russians- they are that loud.

Anyone else think that it’s odd to spend millions of dollars on fireworks made in a communist country to celebrate our independence?

A once in a lifetime heat-dome came through Portland last weekend and the rain is still who knows how far off.

Last night, I heard my first fireworks. My friend has a dog that literally has to get out of town on July 4 and Dec 31. I think I'm as afraid of fireworks this year as that dog is.

I wanted to go to a July 4 party but now I'm thinking I really should stay home and make sure the house doesn't fall victim to an errant spark....

(Best part? The city and the state have banned setting off fireworks, but they haven't banned the sale of fireworks....I am not equipped anymore for the times I live in....)

They’re allowing fireworks in your area? Didn’t the place almost burn down last year?

They're not allowing the setting off of fireworks, they're only allowing the sale of fireworks.

Portland has some issues.

that has never stopped them. even last year, the bombs were going off. the issue is, they never just burn down their own homes...

Let us know how it works. We only have one jackass neighbor that thinks it’s ok to light big stuff in our neighborhood. I’m hoping he won’t this year, after having the cops called on him by multiple neighbors last year.

AZ is even worse in a drought than Portland. Half the damn state is already on fire, I wish they’d just shut down the stands and enforce the existing laws about fireworks.

We're trying Trazodone this year.

My pups were never fans of the fireworks but, were OK if we were with them. One year we were watching my eldest's dog and she went completely bat shyte over the fireworks. Our dogs reacted in kind and have been super reactive after that.

We did a trial run the other night and they were blobs of drool on the floor so, we're going to start sedating on Fri night through the weekend. Boneheads around here start celebrating early.

I had one dog that did not like fireworks. Benadryl works well 1mg/pound IIRC, google the dosage to make sure. Current dog isn't fazed
