I have never met a track i didn't like BUT i like some more than others (a day at the track is a day at the track!). The question is which is the favorite not least liked so..... IMHO the top 5:
That I have driven (in descending order): - Sebring - Road America - The Glen - Road Atlanta - tie Daytona/COTA That I have been to but not raced at: - Spa - Nurburgring - Hockenheim - Imola ("San Marino") - Potrero de los Funes (Argentina) |
Had a day at Mosport last week. I had only been there once before, 10 or 11 years ago in my Miata. I didn't realize how fast it would be in a powerful car (I drove my M2). What a thrilling track!

I did a DE at Barber Motorsports in Birmingham, AL. It is just an beautiful place. It is often called the Augusta of race tracks. Tons of art work, and just landscaped perfect grounds. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719843614.jpg The museum is great, and he has the largest motorcycle collection in the world. It is a favorite, for beauty. I think I still prefer Ozark International as a favorite track to drive. Barber is the epitome of beautiful park like background for a wonderful track. |
It's been gone many years but, Bridgehampton, out on Long Island .

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719853158.JPG Talladega was fun. At 100 or below I had to steer hard up the hill to keep up on the banking. At 110 to 125 it is very neutral steering. It was the first time I ever got to triple digit speed and not hear from the passenger seat "SLOW DOWN" with my wife in the car. That 33 degree banking is steep. I had to look out the very corner of the top of the windshield to see anything in front of me. It is easy to understand why the real race cars going 200 MPH don't see the crash up ahead. |

And it’s weird to have to look at the top left corner of the windshield to see where you’re going. VR is still my favorite track and I might be going there in September with the 330ci. |
Watching F1 last weekend reaffirmed my affection for the beautiful, lyrical layout of Österreichring... it just flows... and presents amazing challenges to the racers.
<iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cCUtB8jMdpI" title="F1 Track "Österreichring" reopens as Red Bull Ring" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> I also love Road Atlanta... and miss the old layout. I understand the need to change it, but wish it hadn't needed changing. |
More from Barber.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719935887.jpg After passing some cars. Yea right. All the modern Porsches are so much faster. I did a lot of point by. I still had a blast. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719935910.jpg See the giant spider in the background. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719935942.jpg Some of the artwork in the background. It is a very pretty place. |
