Advice on upgrading hard drive from HDD to SSD

I have a SATA HDD and I'm wanting to upgrade to SSD. I also have a M.2 slot that can use PCIe NVMe. My system is a Dell Inspiron 17 7773 2 in 1. Dell recommends this; MPN: SNP112P/512G, Dell part AA618641 but it's only 512gb. I currently have a 2tb HDD but I've only used 78.6gb of internal storage since I bought this thing back in 2018.

I'm thinking I'll install a 1tb NVME SSD for extra speed versus a SATA SSD. I don't see needing 2tb and for the cost difference I don't see the benefit. I'm looking for something to speed up load time and hopefully fix my issue where my HDD is running at 100% when I open things like chrome or edge and have multiple pages open.

What say the brain trust?

The m.2 drive is the fastest option. Faster than the SSD. Either will be faster than a spinning drive.

Do it. You won't regret it.

I should be okay with the 1tb vs the 2 I currently have so I think I'll do some shopping. Then I just have to figure out cloning the old drive over to the new.

EDIT:
Oh sh.t.... there are a TON of choices. PNY, Samsung, Sabrent, Western Digital, Crucial, Kingston etc. My head is gonna hurt after this.

Edit 2: I pulled the trigger on a Sabrent 1gb PCIe card. I did some looking at specs and it looks like the M2 slot is good for up to 1gb. Still should be plenty and if it's not, I can put a Crucial SATA 500 gb ssd that I have in the SATA slot and use if for additional storage.

Holy smokes! The M.2 PCIe NVME SSD really woke this thing up!

you can download the disk cloning software free from the SSD manufacturer.
