I have a couple of oil paintings by Victor Czerkas. I got them from a prop house that didn't want to hassle with getting "clearance" on them to use in film and TV (filming the art hanging on the wall is considered "duplication"). Here's his Bio:
"Victor J. Czerkas (1914-2003) Born: Sioux City, Iowa; Studied: Chouinard Art Institute; Member: San Gabriel Art Association. Victor Czerkas grew up in Iowa and there learned the sign-painting trade. In the 1930s he moved to Southern California where he worked as a sign painter and freelance commercial artist. By the 1950s he was employed by Universal Studios as a lettering artist, producing hand-lettered titles for major motion picture releases. In later years he did similar work for ABC Television programs. Throughout his life Czerkas also produced fine art watercolors and oil paintings. He studied art in the 1930s then continued his art education with private painting lessons from Nicolai Fechin. Most of his early paintings depict regional California cityscape and landscape views. These were often produced outdoors on location while viewing the subjects. After 1978 he also produced works depicting subjects he found while traveling in Europe, Russia, India, as well as areas in the Caribbean and Orient." Anyway, I had seen one of his works on Etsy for $850 which wasn't too bad of a price. I hesitated and a few days later I came across another sale site called "Mercari" and the same seller had the piece on there for $450 so I snapped it up. Here's a link to an Ebay auction for one of his pieces: The woman who was selling my piece didn't know what it was and titled it "Bunker Hill" which was a watercolor he did of Los Angeles. Mine is another oil of the "Taos Pueblo". I think I got a good deal. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1633030834.jpg |

I have a buddy who was strictly commando. Went to pick his wife up at the hair salon and his fly was open...
He NARROWLY avoided arrest. Commando days are over for him. |

We'll probably ship them off to China. Then China will have old ladies and orphans strip them for the precious metals. |
