outdoor speaker, stereo to mono convertor
For you guys who know about audio, esp pro audio.
I have a single Bose 802 speaker with the EQ. I want to use it in my backyard as an outdoor speaker, playing a mono signal at modest volume (max 80 dB or so). The source will be an Audioengine B-Fi wireless streaming adapter, playing from my iPhone. I figure I’ll need an amp and some sort of stereo to mono adapter. The purpose is background music (jazz most likely) for al fresco dinner parties etc. The B-Fi will let me play the same music throughout the house and backyard. How about this amp https://www.parts-express.com/Pyle-PT510-240W-Mono-Amplifier-with-MP3-Media-Player-Mic-Talkover-70V-100V-4-Ohm-8-O-300-217 And this stereo to mono convertor OSD Audio SMC21 Stereo to Mono Converter – Gold-Plated RCA Connections and 1:1 Ratio Audio Transformer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FFBJ8KR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_R73SZFZHWJVM9CYNFWC1 I thought of buying a pair of “outdoor speakers” like Bose 151/251, but I already have this 802, I suspect it’ll sound better, and I don’t need “stereo”.

Maybe I don't understand the issues, but can't you just find a mid grade integrated amp. Many will have a mono button. One of my old accounting clients asked me to wire some outdoor speakers to a TV on the patio of her pizza place.. We put one of these in the (outdoors in Phoenix) rafters of her shop. It was powered non-stop and ran for years with no problems. Not a huge amount of power, but they're dirt cheap.

A regular amp would work, but the Pyle amp I linked to is pretty cheap too.

Circling back for closure. I gave up on the idea of using the 802 for my outdoor speaker. It was just too big to mount up on the exterior wall in any location where it would be protected from rain, and I figured my neighbors wouldn't be happy with the potential sound level. I bought a used pair of Bose 151 for $100, mounted them up under the eaves firing downward at my outdoor dining area, an $84 Pyle amp that has Bluetooth and is compact enough to live in the dining room which is the room closest to the outdoor space, pulled cables and problem solved. Passable sound, visually discreet.
