Unsurprisingly, they went, "chop-chop-chop."

They are noisy aren't they?
My son was telling me they fly over all the time down at his house. They're under the pattern of Miramar to Palm Desert which the Navy uses all the time for practice.

Maybe my nephew was on one of those Ospreys. I'm guessing they came out of 29 Palms.

My nephew who is in the Air Force told me they're considered "death traps" and not many troops like to fly on them.

Kinda surprised you've never seen an Osprey Denis.

I have probably seen them flying overhead before but I can never remember what they are called. I also get them mixed up with Harriers(?).

Are you back in LA?

Interesting in that they are in "helo" mode and not nacelles down for speed. I wonder where they were headed.

I never got to fly one. I did some simulator time helping a LtCol friend of mine get qualed here in Pax at Man Flight Simulation.

The "aerodynamic wheel of misfortune" is a *****.

I always thought the Osprey was cool. Didn't it get straightened out after its early problems? You can skip to 1:45 to see this one transition:

I have parachuted from most modern military aircraft; fixed and rotary. I have not jumped from an Osprey, and I do not want to even ride in one.

Yep, this was in the Highland Park area, just north of DTLA. They went past pretty slowly in chopper mode but fairly high in the sky, (I zoomed in for the second photo). I've seen other semi-exotic military aircraft going in the same direction, roughly north/NW. Not sure what air base is in that direction(?)

It sounds like the consensus is that they are POS aircraft?
