I'm thinking I'm just going to get a proper fitting piece of transmission line and clamp in on the steel lines like I have it now. I cant see spending a bunch of money on the factory line when the rubber hose will probably last longer than the factory piece did.

Yep, get rid of the new crap that probably saved the factory .2¢ when assembling the vehicle and go old school. That old school stuff worked for a long time.

May need the soft line for drivetrain motion.

Sounds like this happened in California. If it was Texas you would have had 5 different people stop to help.

That's what I figured the rubber hose with the fancy end was doing, isolating vibration and absorbing some movement. That's also why I'm thinking just leaving a rubber hose line made for oils and temp rated in place with hose clamps. I can carry that stuff behind the seat if it ever pops.

About 6 weeks ago my 18yo daughter got t-boned in her Mazda 3 by a jacked up Toyota Tundra. Literally 20 cars siting at a traffic light. One guy stopped to ask if she was OK. But not one person stayed around for the PD to offer a statement and they literally arrived in less than 2 minutes.

Had anyone offered to tell the PD what happened we might not be paying for that Toyota.

The thing that impresses me about your story is how you, like most on here I imagine, have the skills to diagnose and repair the problem. I tell my buddies about doing one thing or another to a vehicle (like the most recent head gaskets on a 20 yo Land Rover Disco2) and they are just amazed as if they were never issued a Man Card. They usually say something like, cars are so complex with computers now...
